I am honored to be a new member of the Dallas Safari Club (DSC). I was especially suprised that DSC recognized the members of Accuratereloading.com by picking up the entire dinner bill for our AR Friday night dinner. This was unsolicitaed, but very much appreciated. Thank you DSC!!!

I attended the Seminar for 1st time Hunters to Africa. The 1st speaker was a lady from Air 2000 I think. She told everyone to use TSA locks on there Gun Case. I argued that with her, but she insisted she was correct? I will continue to use non-tsa locks on my case. Which do you folks think is correct?

Larry, the law is pretty clear, the only one that is supposed to be able to get "access" to your guns is you, hence no TSA locks. (That is, of course, unless something has changed in the past week.)

I have to agree, it was a very good show, DSC members were in top form. I missed the AR events due to other obligations, but hope to be at them next year.

I actually liked it being at the Dallas Convention Center.. It appeared to be easier to navigate the isles and more room to move around. The traffic appeared a little light but I didn't gert there until Sunday. The DSC members were very friendly and helpful. Good job DSC!

First trip to DSC. Attended both AR events. MANY THANKS to all who organized them and to the DSC for picking up the tab on Friday Night.

I thought both the DSC people and the AR people were a breath of fresh air. The best thing I could think of is that these are real people who share a great experience. Not perfect but really GREAT PEOPLE.

For all who were not able to attend Retreever and his lovely bride were gracious hosts to all AR members who were able to attend. He was assisting Pierre at his booth. It was an enjoyable time.

As usual, the Champlin's booth had that Siren effect on me. Got to meet Buzz and took Myles to dinner along with my brother. Looking forward to a double tuskless/buffalo with hippo and croc in 2011!

No TSA locks on gun cases. The law states that you and only you are to have access to your firearms, and the law has not changed. The lady was right on.

UEG,
sorry, but Larry in his post indicated the lady said that we SHOULD use TSA locks. That is not correct at all. Just didn't want to dirty the water buddy.

Gentlemen,

It was my pleasure, on behalf of the DSC, to pick up the AR dinner tab Friday night. As a lurker on this board I have come to realize that if you want to know the truth about what's going on in the hunting world, and get solid reliable information, this is the place to go. I only know a few you, but I can say that if you are anything like Mike Podwika, I want to meet you next year when I have a little more time. Mike, I really enjoyed visitng with you and your wife.

The show was a big success. I heard good reports from exhibitors, and believe we actually will find we had record setting attendance. It was hard to tell by looking at the floor, as we had more space than in Market Hall, and more cross aisles to divert attendees off of the main aisles. I am told that our Saturday evening speaker, Greg Stubbe, was flat out amazing (I was at the Convention Center dealing with the water line break and missed Greg's speech).

I thought it was only appropriate to recognize you folks and dinner was but a small token of our thanks for your support of the Club and the convention over the years. I hope to see you, and those who couldn't make it this year (come on down Larry Sellers), at our next convention, VISIONS 2011.

Thanks again,
Richard T. Cheatham,
Convention Chairman,
First Light

Nice show. I have been attending as long as I can remember. Early at Market Hall, the Adams Mark. It just keeps growing and getting better.
I heard some negative remarks about the parking, but if you cannot make that walk, then you better hunt out of your truck. Don't book any sheep hunts! LOL

As I stated on another thread, I took my 5 year old daughter on Thurs and while it was a short trip, we did have a great time! I saw a few other children there as well and love the fact that the younger generations are always so welcome.

I've been a member for a few years now and am always impressed by how friendly and gracious other members and staff are. As far as I can tell it's a fantastic organization that I'm proud to be a part of, and buying dinner for ya'll certainly seems consistent with their philosophy and hospitality.

BTW, I'm sorry I missed the AR get-together but with two little ones at home it's a tough sell trying to convince the wife to go have dinner with a bunch of hunters when babysitters are so few and far between. I just need to start planning now for next year, I guess Wink

Regards,
Scott

Ricardo,
My thanks to you and DSC for a great weekend and your generosity in picking up the tab for the AR dinner. I didn't make the dinner at Pappas BBQ but really appreciate the gesture. I did have dinner with a group of AR guys on Saturday...could you send me $800 for the tab?

All of you AR guys who are considering a trip to Big D but just haven't made it happen yet, you really owe to yourselves and the rest of the AR crowd to attend. It's become a most-anticipated event for many of us and something of a homecoming reunion. It's really fun to walk the aisles and bump into friends from across the world who have been brought together by a web forum.

THANK YOU to DSC and Saeed.

Forrest

Thanks to all for the kind words, and Wildlife Gallery, we'll work on those move in move out issues over the next year. Thanks for your patience.

I want to thank Ricardo and DSC for the Friday AR dinner. It was much appreciated? In my opinion it was a better show than SCI, at least I enjoyed it more. I will be there again next year. It has great to put faces to names and make some great new friends.

If I remember right, next years dates are Jan. 6-9.

As a long time DRSS Member I thank DSC for their generosity for the DRSS Dinner...

As a side note, I know many exhibitors, most from Africa, that go to DSC and SCI and 100% prefer the way DSC "does business".

While there were some pains with move in move out, I like the new venue better.

Man, I miss DSC for the first time in 6 years and miss out not only on the fun and seeing all my friends.... But a free meal too!! The fact that DSC recognizes the support and alliance with Accurate Reloading and its members speaks volumes to me, I will be signing up for membership also! Mike and Cherie, Frank and his wife, Die outer jager all put a lot of effort into making our visits special and the dinners and parties memorable. I really regret missing this one. Cheers, Lee.

Saeed.Crane and other new members.

Welcome to the DSC.

I think all the new guys will find the DSC a great improvement as compaired to another club. The floor staff at the convention are excellent and helpful and do not avoid you when a problem comes about. Thank you. I think you will find that the DSC ,although smaller, really gives a higher percentage and more dollars than other clubs. You will also discover all the staff and volenteers interested in serving you and the hunting community. They listen and act with out the politics and self service.

To Richard Cheatham, the DSC et al. I was overwhelmed with the kindness that DSC wanted to do something for the AR members who have supported the convention for so many years.
To all who have attended the event and some of the AR get togethers, I sure do enjoy meeting all of my old friends and every year new friends.
I will add pics later tomorrow. Cancelled flights and a 4am wake up, I am beat and headed to bed. Just got home.
A new venue some bumps but to me an outstanding event, my 7th convention. patriot

After reading the above posts, methinks that maybe it's time for me to also join a USA-based hunting organization? I have often considered a few alternatives, but never got to joining. The implicit approval of Put-'n-Take hunting and the methods of conducting business at the convention of one in particular just never appealed enough to me to warrant the, for me, considerable expense of joining.

Maybe I should consider applying for a booth to display and sell some real ethical plains game hunting and good wingshooting there in January 2011?

Could also consider donating my Andrew McLaren Safaris 2011 Free Hunt to DSI as a 'bribe'to get a decent display booth as is the norm elsewhere? Big Grin

Lots of options, but right now I cannot get access to the membership web site! Darn! Mad Internet in South Africa is jsut the same as Electricity in South Africa: Sometimes it works, sometimes not! Mad

In good hunting.
