There is really no place to put this but African Hunting gets so much attention I thought I'd mention this here. Forgive me if I place in error.

AR is the greatest of the hunting and firearm forums but two things that Africa Hunting.com has make life a bit easier and I would like to see them here:

1. On AH one can drag pics directly from the computer screen to the post. Avoiding the Photobucket step is nice.

2. Also, posters get an email notification when someone replies to their thread and/or post. This makes a rebuttal or reply quick.

What say you? Valid points? Can AR do this?

Cheers, and again I beg forgiveness if I am in error placing here.

#1 - sounds good

#2 - I get enough emails already.

You can already do #2 if you activate it.

But #1 is a GREAT idea.

also, there is a feature there where you can hit a button called "new posts". Then all the new posts from the whole forum come up in order. If there a no new posts on a thread, it won't show up the next time.

AR is by far the best forum I into. My only complaint is responders always copying and pasting the entire original post or anothers response in its entirety, only to add word or two below it. So you end up with a humongous lengthy thread, rereading everything that went before, multiple times. I get lost figuring out whose quoting a quote from another quote...quoting a quote. Only to add a thumbs up smiley face, to a post I've now read 8 times.

I'm very active on a few other forums that have easy to upload pictures, which I do often. Here it's a pain, so I don't bother to post them.

#1 - this would mean that the site itself would then be hosting the image. if it was my site I would say no thanks... using up a ton more server space, bandwidth, and probably causing the site to be slower. it's honestly not that difficult to learn how to upload an image to a host and link it, most sites like imgur.com give you the link right there, it says "USE THIS LINK FOR POSTING ON MESSAGE BOARDS". you know this technology thing isn't going away, might as well learn the basics.

#2 - should be an option already available. I know PMs work this way now, if its not already turned on I'm sure the mods could do so pretty easily.

Cal I like number 1. Number 2, as said previously, is I think already available if you want it.

I will not post any pictures of any hunts until it can be done that way. I am not going to use a hosting site. I use and view forums less and less as time goes by. My tolerance for social media is diminishing, not increasing. I am just not going to do a bunch of screwing around to post something.

I get more social media than I need just in the bit of time I spend on AR.

#1 is a fine idea, but only if it doesn't slow the website down!
I've never posted any of my pictures on this site simply because I have no idea how it is done. It's easy to post a picture from another website, but not from my computer!
....................?????? Confused

#2 Like most others here I get enough E-mail already!

Of course Saeed would be the one to know if either feature would slow this website down enough to be worthwhile!

The above comments on response time (speed) are right on target.

IMHO, the worst thing about Africa Hunting is the delay required to display a new ad banner with everything I do. For that reason alone, I only go there occasionally.
Same for the 24 Hour Campfire - one of the slowest sites around and therefore only worth an occasional visit.

Most likely a storage issue-

by having the pictures on another site and having this site only access the pictures-

the space savings and therefore resulting hardware costs are less-

after all-- Saeed lets us play here for free-
perhaps we should be grateful for that fact-

rather than requesting more favors at his expense--

seems abit entitled on our part

I don't like having my personal photos on some site like Photobucket where anyone can get into it with a bit of judicious hacking. (believe me, it ain't rocket science to hack, check the news for who is getting hacked with ease.) If it took a few more coins to do this, I'd contribute. Sure would add to the site. Probably double the photos. Plus, this is where tech is headed.

1. Would be great and I'd be more likely to post more pix more often. It is a project to save the pix to my docs and then go to Photobucket, download the pix from my docs, copy them from Photobucket and then post them to AR. I often just can't take the time to do it.

2. Is not really a concern for me.

Cal,

At the top there's a Forum - Suggestions and help from members. I know Don does read that pretty regularly and maybe you could put a thread up there linked to this one.

Hit past on your computer and photo is inserted into you post.

#1 is a great idea.

Also the software needs updating as bolding type, etc is clumsy and time consuming with Eve than most newer software in use now.
