Since everyone is so bored with safaris being cancelled, and not much to watch on TV these days, I thought I would offer up an almost 2 hour film of our 2020 Uganda safari. This is part one that was put together by Safari Classics (some of it has been running on Hornady's Dark and Dangerous). In Part 1 we are in Karamojo primarily hunting buffalo, and there are 12 bulls taken here. Part two will be out in coming weeks. Let us know what you think.

And as I know there will be some comments, into the hunt, I had a problem with some bullet tumbling, and you will see the results. Hope you enjoy...

Enjoyed the video. Thanks for the balm to salve the hunters soul.

My initial thought is, there are some really old dugga boys there. The buffalo they are hunting aren't bad either. Wink

But since I don't know the hunters well enough, I will just say great hunt and some great trophies. Congratulations to all.

Hard to get really close in that super open country. My scrum cap was about 35 yards, but this is definitely an area where a scope helps.

Hi Tim,

Great video. where in Uganda (Karamojo) is this? I hunted last year in Ibanda GMA (Tanzania). It was right on the Kagera river, right across from both Uganda and Rwanda.

I ask because it looked exactly like that. I will certainly consider this as a destination. Anything coming up for 2022?

Thanks!

Steve,

This was Karamojo North up where Uganda, Kenya and South Sudan come together. I don’t have any group trips planned but we are booking 2022 hunts there now. With most of 2020 rolling to 2021, 2022 is where the open dates are.

Thanks for that Tim-much needed and fantastic. Hats off to your camera folks. Question for you-are there lions in the area? Never imagined buffalo so calm and sometimes curious.

There are lions but not a lot. We heard them regularly but didn’t see them this trip. I saw them multiple times on my first trip there.

I went to the Uganda Wildlife website. It looks like it will cost at least $10k more to hunt a buffalo there than in Zim.

I'm looking to experience as much Africa as I can in my lifetime. Some countries are just more than others. I've shot plenty of Buffalo, none in Uganda. I'd also like a Kob and a EA Sitatunga to go with my Zambezi Sitatunga.

My only comment as to price would be the short duration. Much too long of a trip over for those short hunts.

Do the 3 area hunt and you end up being there more than 2 weeks and it’s plenty of time.

Yes.

A proper hunt, where one comes home with great memories, which are basically priceless.

Thank you for posting this Tim.

Price is only relevant to what you wish for, and what you get out of it.

Non of those cheap pretend so called "hunts" we see posting here sometimes.

Hunting a wild area in countries like Tanzania and others is the ultimate experience.

No matter what the price, this is the sort of hunt you actually wish to go on again, and again, just like some of us do.

Thanks for posting this, Tim.

Reminds me of my times in the same area.

Beautiful place and Christian does a good job running things in Uganda!

I just wasn't able to close the deal on a scrum cap. The only one I saw was in the park.

I do agree with Steve though- I did the 3 area hunt for Sitatunga, and it is a bit short if things don't cooperate fully. It took me a while to get the Sitatunga and we were a bit rushed thereafter.

Of course, you could talk with Christian about extra days, he's a pretty good guy to work with.

Great video, Tim! I lost count; how many buffalo did you guys shoot?

Also, Mike Jines' rifle looks real interesting. Custom Mauser? What caliber was he shooting?

Thanks for posting. It's the best buffalo video I have watched!

I believe we shot 11 in this part. We ended up with 12 as we found the one I wounded 3 days later and i was able to get in and kill him. I guess that will be on part 2.

Mike’s rifle was a custom .404 Jeff. He would have to give more details. It is a beautiful and very accurate rifle.
