As promised, herewith an updated list of Zimbabwean pro hunters and guides. The list contains full licensed and restricted licensed hunters. * All hunters are immediately pro guides, pro guides cannot hunt! * There are some names on the list that are either - Deceased - Not active - Suspended - Restricted ( not allowed to hunt certain DG ) For me to try and work that out will be a mission, I will do my best, but at the moment I am pretty happy to have managed to get this list from parks. Marty, I think you have been a tad hasty in putting out this list. It needs to be more finely researched and definitive ref DG or PG only licencing, i.e. Full Licence, or Restricted. If you sit down for an hour with 2 or 3 other ACTIVE Zim PH's you'll get a pretty accurate list. I think in its present form (deceased, in-active, retired, etc) it gives the impression there are 400 PHs out here! You and I know that is not true! Perhaps 20% of the names on this list are Full Licence holders, and maybe 20% of those are active. Just my rough estimate at a glance. Secondly, you say "hunt with Zimbabwean PH's in Zimbabwe". That goes without saying, it is the LAW; operators from South Africa bringing clients here HAVE to have a Zimbabwe PH officially guide the hunt. I read an article in "African Outfitter" recently where a clearly South African operator/PH tells a story of a hunt in one of the Chewore concessions. Throughout the story he not once mentions a Zim PH being present. I guess there is no literary legal requirement for him to include all names and characters accompanying the hunt. why don't you start by posting the names that you know are deceased, PG etc etc and I will edit, I will ask a few other guys as well. Martin Might I humbly suggest you consider working towards a simple basic website or webpage that you can post and or update the list, that way input from various interested parties could make your job a lot easier as well as other benifits. If the cost is initially prohibitive there must surely be some existing (hunting friendly) website in Zim's whom might cosider allocating you a page on their site !! "Change we can believe in" !!!! Good stuff Marty - glad to see the young blood finally in charge there at home! I can see a few of my deceased mates still on the list there...Paul Kruger, Ian Lennox, the latter was best man at my wedding and we miss him still - you remember Mavis well. Myself still practicing but not since 2003 in Zim. Miss it and to this day including Rungwa, Rukwa, Masailand, Selous, Moyowosi etc. in Tanz as well as Cameroon and so on - the best safaris I ever conducted were in Zimbabwe. So let me add my 10c. Please please hunt with a duly licenced and recognised PH when hunting in Zimbabwe. | |||
