My completed trophies from Namibia arrived in NY after landing first in NJ & then trucked to NY. Who knows when they will get to me in Virginia. I received an email from the Coppersmith rep in NY saying that the original paperwork was missing & that neither British Airways nor the trucking co knows where it is. He asked that I contact the shipper in Namibia to track the missing paperwork. Without the paperwork the trophies can not be cleared. I contacted the shipper Harold Preschel with Namibia Safari Services, Harold has been very professional through my entire transaction & is trying to track the paperwork from his end. The paperwork was obviously their otherwise the crate would have never made it to NY.

Has anyone run into a similar situation? Any advice would be appreciated

Regards,
Ahmed

Ahmed, I had a similar experience recently. Our paperwork mistakenly was filed as shipped by the exporter. After not hearing anything for over a month I enquired and they found the problem. My CITES export permit had expired. They had to get another one issued and supposedly today, our trophies were shipped to NY. I have to say Fauna & Flora (John Meehan) has been extremely helpful in every step of the way. Hopefully all will go smooth for you and they find your paperwork. The most nerve wracking part of safari; getting our trophies home. Good luck, David

Ahmed,
British Airways have a habit of "losing" paperwork relating to cargo containing game trophies. As a nation, they are mostly Anti-hunting and this is reflected in the cargo handling staff who I am sure play a role in sabotaging anything to do with hunting, be they trophies or firearms in transit, etc.

If possible, one should avoid using them as a carrier.....

The documents were probably lost between NJ & NY since the crate cleared NJ ok.
Due to the new Homeland security rules boxes have to be shipped by land after they have landed at the first port. My thinking is that it was lost on the truck between NJ & NY. The hartman zebra is the only cites animal in the box. I hope we find the paperwork or new paperwork will have to be created in Namibia. The storage cost etc will keep on collecting in NY as we waite for that. This the first time I have run into this situation. I hope it clears up quick.
