opus721st trip is booked
Thanks to everyone for their advice on my first African safari!
I made it official and booked a 10 day Dande Zimbabwe Buff/PG with Charlton McCallum. It's going to be a long year, the trip isn't until 2011. I had some great conversations with PH's I'd still love to have the opportunity to hunt with, but felt CMS was the best fit for me.

K EvansCongratulations.....words written by someone else can not adequately describe the fun you are going to have! You will probably book your next hunt before you finish your first one...Africa is addicting.

safari-lawyerYou've chosen wisely. Buzz, Myles, et al will take really good care of you.

Yep, a long year. The only good thing is that reality will likely live up to expectations.
Congrats,
Dean

MartyYou have chosen wisely. There are many good operators out there, you are going with one of the best.
A year will be gone before you know it. Get fit, and start loading and shooting!

When are the dates. I'll be there in August with Sandra Bullock and Cindy Garrison for a video shoot.
O.K. I was kidding. It's still April Fool's Day. Only Sandra is coming.

Idaho SharpshooterI hunted Buff with Myles in December of 2008. Will you be in Makuti area? That was a classic tent safari, and just unbelievable scenery. Wait until you see your first wild Elephant. Tents under a pole frame, and thatched roof. What a crew. Their cook does incredible things with plains game to work with. Royal (Myles cook) makes the best popcorn. Buffalo tenderloin; my mouth is starting to water at the thought.
Good choice, they will exceed your expectations. Have the $$$ for some PG, we saw 31 Eland the same morning I got my Buff.

opus72I was hoping to do the trip in August, but didn't want to miss my son's first day of school so I'll be making the trip in mid-September. I'm guessing it will be getting pretty warm by then, but after a hot & humid SC summer I should be able to handle it.
I'll bring plenty of money for plains game. On the 10 day buff hunt, I also can hunt 2 IMPALA, 1 DUIKER, 1 GRYSBOK, 1 KLIPSPRINGER, 2 HYENA, 10 BABOONS, 1 KUDU, 1 WATERBUCK, 1 BUSHPIG, 1 ELAND, 1 WARTHOG, 1 ZEBRA.
Can't wait! Lot's of range time coming my way and I'll probably be introducing the SC deer population to the 416 Rigby cartridge this fall.

JudgeGI'll be there in mid-August. I'm hunting a tuskless and PG.
I know you'll have a great time and will see lots of buffalo. Just start saving for your next trip, of course.

Idaho SharpshooterOr, start saving what looks to be a B-I-G shipping and taxidermy bill. That should be an awesome hunt.

No reedbuck, tsessebe, steenboks or blue wildebeests on license?
Regardless, that's quite a list and you'll have an excellent time.
