Need help and suggestions!

I have completed all the paper work and mailed it to the Federal Fish and Wildlife Service in December of 2007. Have called a number of times to obtain informatiom. Once I contacted a "real" human being and was told the permit had been approved and all that was needed was a "signature". I was told that I should receive the permit in the mail in two weeks.

That was the middle of May 2008. Have called five times since then and left messages but no contact with a real person.

Does anyone have suggestions or possible solutions? Has anyone else had this problem? If so how was it resolved?

I do have the letter of permission (invitation) from the land owner, and sent it with the rest of the required paperwork. Hunted with Bowker Safari on their land.

It took me 5.5 months to get my permit. It sat signed on her desk for over a month. Why? Because she can. You won't get a return call either. Just another way to show you who's boss of the big house. I've had clients receive theirs within 60 days. No rhyme or reason.

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."

I guess this is the same old story when dealing with the federal or any other government. Hell just look at all the posts about TSA etc. All in all it is still better than anywhere else on this planet, when dealing with beauracrats.

Mine finally came a couple of weeks ago, after 3 1/2 months.

USFWS originally told me it would take 60-90 days for them to process my Bontebok permit. After 90 days, I called them every working day, listened to their LONG voice mail, and left a message for them to call me. I finally talked to a real person who gave me the name and extension of the man that was processing my permit. After two more voice mail messages, I was about to write my Congressmen (Federal agencies HATE letters from Congressmen), when the guy working on my permit called me and said it was approved. A week later I got it in the mail.

July 7th, my hides and horns left Johannesberg, they were processed through Seattle last week by JJ Doyle Co, and they were scheduled to leave Seattle yesterday for the tannery in Great Falls, MT.

Keep calling USFWS. When I did finally get through to real people, they were friendly and helpful.
