Saeed,
Thanks as usual for sharing your adventure. I notice you always wear pants, while others in your party opt for shorts. Your thoughts on shorts vs. pants for Mahenge or Selous?

I just prefer wearing long pants to shorts. In fact, I keep my shoes and trousers on as we wade through water. It does not take long for them to dry.

Saeed,
I was late work my job, but just couldn't stop looking at your pictures. They are truly magnificent! It is an old cliche, but it is really like being there. You capture with individual photographs what usually requires a video camers to capture. Thanks for sharing. Now off to work.

Saeed, thanks for all of the follow up reports. Excellent photography.

You saw some strange animal behavior (besides Walter's) and some strange animals as well on this trip.

The photogenic leopard, for example. We have seen leopard in daylight in the Selous, but only very briefly as they ran away. Not yours. He acted more like a runway model than a leopard. Am I correct in thinking you would have had ample time to shoot him if you had wanted to?

Also, that white faced buffalo and the buck-toothed, split-lipped hippo were very weird looking.

And that wild dog looks HUGE to me. We have seen wild dogs in the Selous, but they seemed quite a bit smaller to me than the one you photographed.

For a second or two, I thought I was looking at some kind of hyena. Did he seem large to you?

Wow!!! For those who cannot, this was a wonderful treat. Many, many thanks to Saeed and the entourage. As my long time friend Evan Williams can no longer spend all Saturday night, I decided to use my time to list my five favorites, not in any particular order:
1. Line up for a beauty contest
2. Hyacinth Hippo
3. Bee Eater
4. Leopard ready to pounch
5. Man who can do what he wants when he wants, doing what he wanted via laptop/satellite link
You all probably have your favorite 5, or 10, or ......

I have started capturing the video onto the computer, so will try to get a few clips onto the site for your enjoyment before I do the DVDs.

I will post details.

Saeed,
Thanks so much. I've been on the road using dialup, so finally got to look at the photos this morning. Truly a joy for those of us who have little chance for a really great trip like this. Thanks again.

Work hard and be nice, you never have enough time or friends.

Really looking forward to the videos. Should you ever need a second job, photography should be explored. Probably comforting knowing you never have to worry about that!
