I just arrived back last night from my first African hunt. Unfortunately, my gun case has apparently gone on to continue the vacation without me, but aside from that and a few small setbacks, it was amazing...beyond amazing! Thanks again to all who helped out with info and answers to my many questions before the trip.

I will post a report and pictures ASAP, but in the meantime there's something that I've looked forward to ever since discovering this website:

"If I die today, I've had a life well spent, for I've been to see the Elephant, and smelled the smoke of Africa!"

...with apologies and thanks to MacD37 for the quote! Big Grin

Congratulations!!! At least the case didn't "go on vacation" before the hunt.

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

Many years ago I saw a quote that read: "The spell of the tropics -it gets you worse than rum - you get away and you swear you'll stay -but she calls and back you come!". That's what can be said of African hunting.

Welcome home!

You'll be planning your next trip by the end of the week!

When you get bored with life, start hunting dangerous game with a handgun.
