WyattD's has some serious hooks. I'm impressed. Looks like one of the old springbok that Kai-Uwe Denker talks about in Bushmanland.

I'll be in Vaughan's conservancy next year. How about some photos from there too.

Mine's certainly no Kalahari Springbok, but for the Eastern Cape of RSA, my 14.5 incher ranks SCI Gold and makes Roland Ward. Roland Ward groups all species as "Springbok" and does not classify Kalahari from Common Springbok. They do not recognize the genetically altered white, black, copper, purple, green or striped Springbok jumping

Here's the "small" one I shot (15"):

Here's my dad's (just slightly over 15"):

And here's my best African trophy, a 16 7/8 incher. He doesn't have the bases of Wendell's, but he's got the length.

No, this Springbuck has a bit of interesting history. It was the first animal legally hunted by a foreign hunter in the Omatadenka Conservancy.

Vaughan had just received the concession the day before we left for the area. I am sure Namibians had hunted it, and the locals as well. But, this was the first time the concession had been tendered to a safari company.

We made a exploritory run through the area and found these Springbuck as we entered the area.

Vaughan was hesitant to let me shoot it. He thought there might be better ones in the area. Turns out ... there were. He shot the new #2 Springbuck with one of his clients the next year.

I am new to posting pictures on this forum. If there is no springbok picture below this text, then my picture posting performance is truly a reflection of my training and experience. I am almost hesitant to mess up a long line of beautiful springbok pictures with a possible empty box with a red X in it. But here goes . . .

From a pan in the Kalahari. You can perhaps see another herd of them on the horizon. They stayed out in the open because of all the lions and cheetahs in the area.

What spires, what farms are those?

Blair, if we are hunting in the Kalahari, which is close to where I have some on quota, or if a hunter is on a "non-packaged" hunt, I sell them for US$ 700.
