Just wondering if anyone here takes a Blaser system or Sabatti double in their battery to Africa? How about it? Anyone ready to come clean?

Darth Beibs has just converted me to the Dark Side and am anxiously awaiting receipt of my new Blaser Professional Package. Darth B was very instrumental in my decision to go underground and went way above and beyond in helping me along.

I will take both my new Blaser 9.3 X 62 and my trash Sabatti double in 9.3 X 74R to Mozambique later this year. Would like to hear about others who use these same Devils' Tools on their African adventures.

My wife brought her R93 last trip. I might bring my R8 to Burkina next year and definately bringing my Sabatti. Guess that makes me real trash.

Luckily you will have back-up and won't be in Africa long enough to get killed.

Serious hunters don't use either.

Crucify away.

I took my R8 last year and it performed nicely on a warthog and my Cape Buffalo.

Before I knew it was bordering on lunacy to hunt with my R8 Professional in .375 H&H, I was very happy to take it as my only rifle on a plains game hunt. The professional package is a fantastic deal and much easier to transport than a long "normal rifle" case.
It also worked on a very nice Alaskan Moose.
For local hunting (Deer and Pigs) I carry an R8 in .308.
Welcome to the dark side! Cool

My R8 with .300 Win Mag & .375H&H shipped today (got a free .204 Ruger barrel at DSC). I'm planning to take it to the Selous this summer for lion and buff.

Should I be worried?

I dodged what could have been a major disaster a while back. Several years ago I hunted, a lioness, two buffalo, a croc and a hippo (along with various plainsgame animals). I used a Blaser R93 in .416 Rem Mag for all the foregoing. Then I got home and started reading about how hunting with a Blaser is bad form, Blaser's are ugly, using a Blaser puts the hunter at risk of death, or worse, ridicule. Imagine my relief. I made it home without incident. I give thanks every day now for what could have been. Wink

My 450/400 Sabatti went with me to Zimbabwe in 2012. Worked fine on tuskless elephant and several plains game. Shoots ranged from 13 yards to over 120 yards and it performed just fine.

In 2004 I videoed safaries and while there, many clients used BlazerR93 in 300 win and 375 H&H, lovely rifles. All good service. In 2013 I used my ph's 416 professional blazer on tuskless, what a great gun! The whole thing works like a dream. I'd have on if the Canadian Dollar was on par with the Euro. The exchange kills the deal.

Larry: My R93 .416 Rem. has been to Africa twice with me, & taken a buffalo & elephant. I'll take an R93 .338 WM this fall to BC for moose & caribou. A great travel rifle that you can disassemble to clean & when you reassemble, it's still perfectly on. Great rifles !!!

I was in the same boat, I sold a bunch of "safe queens" and bought my double and a trip to Zim for buff and tuskless. I can not even remember the guns that I sold but I think about my safari EVERY SINGLE DAY!

What is this thing about Sabatti not being good enough?
Is it kinda like a street urchin of all the doubles?
Got two and they are awesome, so should I prowl through the the woods only in cover of darkness?
Having Sabatti is not having blue blood in my veins?
I guess they showed all the overpriced doubles makers that it can be done for reasonable price.
Blazer/blaser? I only own one, kinda red that I wear at night when I'm drinking beer in local brewery...
