That is a new name, and the one Alan registered for his Tanzanian company that holds the Madaba concession rights. He registered that name before the last tender in, I believe, 2022.

From the time we saw him to the time he was dead was not more than 10 minutes.

The bush is quite thick, and one has to take the first opportunity one gets.

I could see his head, the top of it.

The rest of his body is not very clear.

There was a small gap ahead of him, and just as he moved I fired.

The gap was barely 2 feet wide and if he had gone through we might not get another chance.

This morning we followed some eland, into the sun early in the morning.

They kept seeing us before we saw them.

We gave up and went looking for buffalo bulls that reside in the forests by the river.

Saw fresh tracks and followed them.

One of our trackers pointed at something moving less than 100 yards away.

Again, the bush is so thick very hard to see.

Alen puts the shooting sticks up and tells me to look at a small gap he might walk through.

We waited for a bit, and I tell Alan I cannot see the buffalo!

He laughs, and mouths the word ELAND BULL!

Well, I cannot see an eland bull either.

We moved a bit, and right there about 70 yards he was looking straight at us, but only his head and part neck visible.

It was now or never, as he was not going to wait much longer.

The rifle goes off, and down he goes.

This was just before nine in the morning.

Alan and the trackers went to fetch the truck.

Did not come until after 2.

We cut him up and loaded him.

Got stuck in the sandy river, and took a while to get going.

Back at the camp by 4 for lunch.

The other two teams are still out.

The Vikings are having a ball.

They saw a hippo yesterday - everyone else did, except Anders.

He said he saw a shadow of a hippo.

Nisse was even better.

He apparently saw half a hippo!

A bit of fun this morning.

Unwelcome fun.

Every year I get a few scorpions visit my tent.

Small ones and never got stung.

This morning I am up at 4, and without putting the light on in the bathroom - turned the bed side light on.

And went to answer the call of nature.

I think 2 seconds after I sat down, I had lift off!

Almost drilled a clean hole through the tent roof!

Turned the light one and saw I was covered in siafu!!

About half a million were on various parts of my body, proceeding to feed on this very rare flesh!

The picture above shows parts of them after I sprayed DOOM on them.

Anders shot a wildebeest.

Nisse shot a warthog!

I’m afraid if that army of ants showed up in our tent, I’d have to call in a charter plane to evacuate Lindy!

Wow, there is A LOT more water than last year. I knew it was wet and thick this year, but not like that.

That old eland bull is a tank!

Lots more water every where. Also lots more green grass where there was dry grass bet.

The eland was very old. Teeth almost worn out.

Has so much fat around his heart. It’s the mass you see where the heart is in the picture.

Had a welcoming small snake waiting on my tent steps last night.

I seem to have attracted attention from important residents of the bush!

I have been classified as a genuine VIP in this camp now!

That is a beautiful eland! Blue with a great ruff.

I'm jealous, I've never seen one old enough to shoot.

Found fresh buffalo dung on the road.

Still warm.

Apparrently belongs to two old bulls.

We followed them for two hours, and saw them in some thicket, as usual.
One was looking straight at us, but the only thing partly visible was the top of his head.

The otrher was behind him.

He started bobbinh his head up and down.

Then the one behind moved to the left, but no clear shot.

This one followed him, luckily a few yards closer and passed through a small gap.

I fired at him and they booth took off.

We ran after them, saw ours drop down, and the other just carried running.

As you can see, the bullet did not open up at all. Took the top of the heart off, and stopped under the skin on the other side.

Perfect performance.

Took us a while to cut a road for the truck.

Got home just before 3.

Had lunch, and I decided to stay in camp, while Roy and Alan go out to hunt.

What fantastic good fortune to find a Pangolin! I’ve never seen one but have always wanted to.

Half day report.

The Dubai and Zimbabwe contingent are back for lunch.

I shot a kudu.

Roy shot an impala.

Maktoum shot a buffalo.

Going out at 3.

The Vikings are still out.

The highlight of their day yesterday was seeing a hippo!

A real, genuine, hippo walking along.

Not just half as Nisse saw earlier or just the shadow that Anders saw.

Maktoum caught a scorpion last night, and Anders wouldn’t have anything to do with it.

Pete was proudly showing them one of fingers, which got bitten by a snake.

This is called rapid education for our friends from the frozen North!

Coming back to camp after sun down, we met a young leopard on the road.

Did not seem to be bothered about us at all.

Took some video clips in the dark.

Siafu at night is never fun. But they do make for some good stories.

Madaba seems to be a great hunting ground this time of year. Has Alan done much burning?

We leave the fishy stories to fishy hunters who are unable to hunt.

And make up all sorts of fishy stories to make up for it!

The only fishing I have done was spear fishing.

And there is no way in hell anyone is going to persuade me to spear fish in the murky waters of this lake.

The smallest croc we have seen is twice as big as me!

I have not been to the lake yet, to be able to see how much difference from last year.

There are water pools everywhere, and green grass too.

Which makes hunting a bit of a challenge.

The bush is relatively open in certain areas, to see.

Which means the animals can see you too.

Finding an opening for a shot is another matter.

Sometimes luck is on our side.

Yesterday we saw a herd of zebra feeding, and managed to get quite close to them as the wind was good.

They actually walked towards us.

Some where in plain sight and very easy shots.

But they were mares.

As normally happens whatever animal you wish to shoot is hidden.

Eventually he came out and Roy put him down.

The leopard behavior last night was quite interesting.

He was sitting on his hind legs sniffing a small bush by the road side!

He stayed that way for quite a while, and was not bothered by our car which was no more than 30 yards away.

He then walked down the road, totally oblivious to us.

We followed him slowly, then he ran a few yards and just carried on walking.

Then stopped to sniff at another bush.

After a while he walked off the road.

Saw him lying down facing away from us.

One shot and he did not move.

Very nice photos. With all the tics one sees hanging on to those buffaloes, I would not be too keen to sit on them. Roy does not seem to mind. LOL.


Do predators try pay a visit to all that meat hanging at the camp?

While hunting we hope to see big and ancient rams like that old boy, but it so seldom happens.
