Just wondering how many of you on here wait for the outfitters to post up discounted hunts vs going to SCI convention and signing up for the full price. With the costs of African hunting going up it occured to me that it almost makes sense to just wait til around July and see what last minute 'discounted' hunts come available. Some of the discounted hunts look like they would more than make up for the last minute flight reservations. Just wanted some of your thoughts. Thanks | ||

Sometimes a bargain comes along, sometimes the bargain can turn into not such a bargain. "Know who your hunting with" goes a long way. Most quality Outfits don't always discount the hunt, as they know any opening will be filled quickly. Some will however, make good deals based on filling quota's. Sometimes during late season when it's getting hot, deals can be found. The only ones suffering from the heat are we humans. I've hunted in 110 degree weather and other than seeking shade at high noon, the game didn't seem to mind. I'm going to start hounding you if I don't get some details of your trip and at least a few pictures!  I like to plan ahead, and it gives me a goal to work toward, but I admit to wishing I could also take advantage of some of the short-notice and discounted hunts. Having a good hunt is very dependent on the PH and safari company, and that applies even to discounted hunts, so I feel that due diligence is very important.
