Unless I missed their booth, which in the past was sizable, I couldn't help noticing there was no official USF&W presence this year. Not invited? Laying low? I think that Mr. Ashe had a meeting with some folks about the elephant issue while this was going on. I know that John Jackson sent out a note about that. I also was told that some of the Tanzanian government officials were meeting in Washington with folks and were at SCI meeting with the operators after that. Not sure what came of it all, but that was probably why no one was at the convention. I can't say that their (USFW employees) absence was surprising, after all, what could they do at a hunting convention other than be complained to about something that is decided by folks way above their pay grade. | |||

I believe that crbutler is right. I talked with John yesterday and that was what he also told me. I noticed their absence at the convention and at the Wildlife Law seminar, both of which they usually attend in some fashion. | |||
