Folks,

Some of you may remember MaximusBrutus here on AR. His real name was Mark Proudfoot and a nicer fellow you'll never meet. Mark passed away yesterday from a heart attack, leaving behind a wife, and 3 kids, including a very young daughter of 2.

Mark first contacted me completely unsolicited solely from my writings here on AR. Through this forum, I made a great friend, even though we lived on opposite sides of the world.

Please remember him in your thoughts today. I'm going to miss my buddy.

Very sorry to hear this.

Condolences to his family and friends.

I think I remember him asking me about Alan Vincent and the area we hunt.

Eventually he did go and hunt with Alan, and apparently had a great time.

Condolences to Claire and the rest of his family.

I met Mark and Claire whilst they were hunting Bull ele with Buzz in Dande . I was on my own Ele hunt with CMS and Blake in Chewore south .

He was toting his newly made bespoke H&H 500NE double, and got a nice bull toward the end of the hunt.
i believe he was in his mid 50's

Far too early an exit, especially with a young 2 yr old.

Rest in Peace mate.

Nick

Very sad to see some leave us, but even more so leaving a young family behind.

Wish them all the best.

That's really a shame. We corresponded some a few years ago. He was maybe in his 40's?

Thoughts and prayers to his family.

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

RIP Mark.

Condolences to his family and friends.

Too young, sad to leave such a young family.

I remember his excitement when he ordered his H&H but didn’t see the final report on it.

Home is the Hunter.

Todd thanks for sharing this information with the folks who knew Mark through his interactions on AR. Those of us who knew Mark and his family outside of AR will miss him dearly. He was a wonderful man, dedicated to Claire and all of his family. We shared many great times together in Germany and also in the United States when they visited. We are in regular contact with Claire should anyone wish to send her a card. I would be happy to receive it on her behalf and get it to Claire.
