I agree. Its a funny contradiction to be proud of messing up an initial shot and having to subsequently save your own bacon on the follow up.

One of my friends often repeats a quote he heard in Namibia...."Fair chase hunting is having to shoot your way out of that which you shot your way in to". Always thought that would be a good tagline for Sullivan's videos. Smiler

This SOB is using a Matthews bow and it seems it's a Matthews LX, the bow I am using for roe deer and hogs. The maxi poundage is 70#.
The guy is clearly undergunned.
Will You use a 243 for hippo????? The LX is in the same skinny league.
Let alone shooting from a boat??
Nonsenses.
The solution is a 90-100# compound bow with a > 1000 grains arrow and a first rate thick single blade broadhead. Also a perfect placement and shooting from firm ground, not bobbing in a crowded canoe.
Hippo is on my list for a safari in July with Buzz.

This is disgusting. I have been with the outfitter concerned and he has no values what so ever. The hunting of a hippo in the water is totally irresponsible. To post this stuff on UTube is again a clear indication that people like these have no concept on what damage this kind of footage will do to hunting. They have no idea on how powerful the anti hunting activists are. Total idiots.

+1

Ther are some good vids on youtube but the majority are posted by hillbillys and wankers which only ellicits response from the outraged, uniformed and those who have no capacity to analyze what they are seeing (i.e. morons).

I cringe when I see hunting on youtube/google vid etc as normally it portrays a very poor message to non-hunters, even if done 'properly'.

Pretty idiotic stunt. That whole boat cold have been swamped spilling all those men into the water with a wounded hippo. It was stupid enough to try it with a bow, bit on the water??? that PH should have his license pulled. jorge

Jorge:

The boat swamping and folks dumping out couldn't have been better then your falling your butt off of my ATV in Tiger Island Swamp, though. I'd pay for a video of that! You totally submerged... and I thought you had wings instead of dolphins.

Semper Fi!

I agree with you, that was a much better scenario, a much better shot and an interesting outcome.

I don't see the problem. They whacked the hippo. If it winds up on youtube, so what? The antis aren't going to stop just because it isn't on youtube. Might as well quit trying to hide it and just tell them to grow up, or fuck off, whichever you prefer.

An "armidildo" is an interesting electronic device often smuggled upon aircraft carriers by Navy pukes, O-5's and above.... especially in the ASW role. An "armildildo" looks somewhat like an opossum with scales and upon pulling the "tail" it negates the need to drop the soap. They are only usable on Nimitz class carriers because they need 50,000 joules to "excite" the "wiggle". BTW, Marine officers just go to Crazy Alice's in Olongapo.

Poor USN. They need more shore duty.

There may be 10 folks who post here that will understand the "inside" jokes... or know (or give a whatever" as to whom Crazy Alice is... but to them... let me buy you a drink sometimes across the Shit River.)

As to our trip into the swamp, it was my first face to face with Jorge. We met on this forum and I wanted to take a Naval Officer hunting. We didn't kill anything, but had a good hunt and he was a good sport when I found a bottomless hole in which I accidentally dumped his swabbie ass.

Jorge is the real thing. A good guy and his wife is a wonder.

As to the hippo.. I'm glad I didn't fall off because Raj or whoever the P.H. was would probably tried to put an arrow in my fat butt.
