I was just informed of his passing, so I felt compelled to comment on a great fellow Naval Officer and hunter. I always enjoyed sharing an "under the table" cocktail with him at DSC. Very sad news. I corresponded with him a bit and bought a 45 and later on a NF scope. The "74" in his name was, I believe, the year he graduated from the Naval Academy, AKA "Canoe U." | |||

I often say no matter their rank, nuclear sub sailors, whether they served on boomers or attacks, are the most impressive service members outside of Delta Force that I have ever met. When we take off the uniform, we are all equal. | |||

In the early 70's I served with a Lt Jg with the sme name. I wonder if the Admiral served on attack boats, specifically USS Sea Devil? ('73 to '75 ish) Watch yer 6! Dave Renn | |||

He spent his whole submarine career on attack submarines other than a year on USS Ulysses S. Grant. Not sure he was on USS Sea Devil but he was on USS Parche. He never said anything about what he did on the USS Parche as a lot of it is still highly classified. Mike | |||
