Ditto on maybe not really needing three, but if

Three gun set up:
.300 WSM
.375 H & H
.404 Jeffery

Two gun set up: (Most practical if nothing above Buff)
.300 WSM
.375 H & H

Two gun set up: (Bigger than Buff).
9.3 X 62
.404 Jeffery

I couldn't agree more. Although I love the .416 Rigby as well.

I had the privilege to fire E. Hemingway's WR .577NE, E. Keith's WR .470NE, & F. Jamieson's WJJ .500 Jeffery

I don't know how you can pick a one gun, two gun or three gun battery without specifying what species of game you intend to hunt. The rifles I would pick for a buffalo/elephant hunt in Zim would be completely different than the rifles I would pick for a Namibian plains game hunt. I have the following available for use depending on need or personal whim: 270 Win, 7X57, 300 H&H, 375 H&H, 458 Lott, 500/465 and 470 Nitro.

465H&H

That is the point, it didnt say what species, or what country it just said Africa.. So taking into Account "Africa" and the post asked for a "3 gun battery" I would think you would have to pick 3 guns that could cover all situations in "Africa".

Assuming everything from ele down is on the menu, my pick would include:

375 H&H
470 NE
12 gauge sxs

In 2004, Adam and I hunted successfully hunted buffalo in Zim with a 470 and scoped 375 H&H between us. Unfortunately we ran out of time to close the deal on the ele. Either way, all bases were covered with these rifles.

For my 21 day Tanzanian safari I chose to have three rifles for that mixed bag safari;
300 H&H
375 H&H
404 Jeffery.
I would have taken my 375 Flanged Magnum and 450-400 combination with the 300 H&H but my double is not quite ready to go yet.

I've found the following to be effective
338 Winchester
458 Winchester
12 gauge
Doubtless others would be just as effective.
