The ultimate buffalo stopper!!

You guys have this buffalo stopper thing all wrong.

The ultimate buffalo stopper is a 500' roll of 10 gauge steel wire.

Much like the .45-70 the snare gains it's awesome killing ability from it's lack of velocity "0" FPS has been a proven killer of buffalo elephant rhino and others for years!

Of course due to the advancements in wire technology the snare is far more deadly today than it was even 30 years ago. With the new "hard cast" wire that is available to wire using sportsmen the world over, using a snare is more effective than many other weapons such as spears, shotguns, arrows, safari cars, and most double guns.

The snare is almost guarantied to make the .45-70 a perfectly safe choice for buffalo hunters the world over.

In fact I am so adamant about my weapon choice I'll gladly insist that the fine members of ARL pay my way over to Southern Africa. I'll promise to bring noting more than a roll of wire. I will even be gracious enough to offer to pay for the film in the camera.

My wire will of course be in the CWF (controlled wire feed) configuration as PF wire feeders tend to jam at the most inopportune moments.

Stand by next week for my new weapon system commonly referred to as a the "dead fall" and pit trap. These weapon systems are also considered extremely deadly due to their very low velocity.

You wouldn't joke about PF wire feeders if you had a MIG welder.

Ah, the old "10 ga. vs. 12 1/2 ga." debate. I, myself, prefer the ready availability of 12 1/2 gauge, which is much more commonly found in electrical fencing applications. Thusly, when your luggage fails to show up, you are not out of the hunt at all. You can simply procure an adequate supply of 12 1/2 ga from a local source, and you are off and running. True, it lacks in tensile strength (knock-down power) but makes up for it in penetration.

I do not, however, advocate the use of wildcat wire such as the Kevlar or "Spectra" (Spider-wire and the like) alternatives. These are a step up in performance, but they are rare and difficult to purchase components for. Good luck finding replacement parts in wildest Africa. Also, you don't want to have to convince the customs inspector that your wire is the proper size, even though the diameter is smaller. Some of these folks just don't understand the technology.

Formerflyer,

Are you CRAZY!!!!

Using 12 1/2 Ga wire is shear lunacy on DG. My god man!!!

The penetration is only marginaly better and the lack of diameter is truely a show stopper on thick skinned game..

I'd go so far as to risk the use of 8 gauge wire if and only if you can handle the recoil!!

With such fierce recoil and stiffness the 8ga wire can make a man develop into a whicked finch.

I once new a guy who strung several miles of 8 ga wire who turned into a red crested, yellow belly finch not three days latter!!

SAD but true!!

Balla Balla,

Yes there is some age old saying about idelness and the gunsmile or something like that..

Yes. To me, it's totally justifiable homocide.

Even joking about snaring makes me sick...

I thought it was funny - when you realize that it's obviously a complete farce....

Looks like surestrike hit the 'official' nerve with this one.

You know, G.S., we routinely make fun of Surestrike for lots of things, but being a candidate for justifiable HOMOcide isn’t one of them. Perhaps you know something that previously only his wife knew for sure?

OH NOOO!!!!

Not another episode of violent HOMO-cide!! I hate it when that happens!!

Eeker

You know it's true, this is in pretty poor taste and I guess I can see how it would offend some of our members. Especially those who need to wear a helmet and a drool cup while ridding the little bus to school.

If you can't tell this is a farce you've got some problems that are so bad I'll bet your therapist can't even pronounce them.

With that in mind I think we should shift this thread to a different style of hunting.

Lets talk about poison arrows and flame herding over cliffs. That way nobody will have anything negative to say.

A subject I think we can all agree on. thumb

30ott6,

What I want to know however is this,,Does the Wire pack have a compartment for my poison roots and stone arrow heads and a drip torch pouch??

That wire pack sounds pretty cool but I'll be needing the fire herder and posion arrow sak before I can justfy buying one.
