To all of my dad's friends...the man turns 60 tomorrow. We celebrated today with a very memorable gift.
This is Victoria posting for
my Dad's Birthday and his love of Tanzania. He has lived his lifelong dreams.

The lion tattoo has to wait until he actually gets the lion. FYI the small outline in the continent is Tanzania...his happy place.

Well friends, I will be celebrating my birthday tomorrow, but was visiting my daughter and grandchildren. She and her brother conviced me to get something meaningful for my 60th birthday. No shirt, ammo, or hunting whatevers. I agreed to it, and not knowing till shortly before my leaving for the visit.
My daughter went ahead and made the apppointment and they thought I would chicken out. But as you can see I did not, and yes, I made it happen.
John, this is me! Mike

Happy birthday Mike... I used to think 60 was old, now I think it is just the start of middle-aged! Especially for a guy with a tattoo! Funny how time has a way of altering definitions...

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

Happy Birthday Mike, mine is coming up on the 25th. Prior to this I always thought that there was only one good reason for a tattoo: "I was drunk, in the navy and in Tijuana". Now I know that there is another.

Happy Birthday, Mike!

As a previous poster said, Mike is a real class act. An example - my great-nephew Jake, my nephew and I ran into Mike at the Harrisburg show last February. Mike showed Jake his .500 cartridges, talked about his elephant hunt, and then showed Jake the pictures. Jake's eyes were shining and his mouth was hanging open. Mike then told Jake of the importance of studying hard, working hard, and having a career, so he could go on these hunts.

I guess Mike could have been more inspirational and motivational with my eleven year old nephew - but I don't know how.

Thanks again, Mike, and I look forward to sharing a cold one with you in Harrisburg, if not in Dallas.

Mark

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.
