Well 3 yrs later I finally processed an image I was dreaming about as an Oryx nutt!!!...it's a 10 ft x 2 ft panorama framed with native hardwood to be hung inside my home above my doorway with all my African mounts...

My wife thinks me is crazy!!!

Wow, that is gorgeous!

I just happen to dote on Oryx myself. So readily available and so affordable, and yet so unapologetically macho... Your picture(s) really bring(s) out the power of this animal!

Into my heart on air that kills
From yon far country blows:
What are those blue remembered hills,
What spires, what farms are those?
That is the land of lost content,
I see it shining plain,
The happy highways where I went
And cannot come again.

That is a very unique and interesting shot! I like it!

Wow, that is VERY cool! This is not only a great photo and time lapse sequence, but a great study on how they move.

This is so good, I'd guess that it would sell commercially.

You're right, there's just something about gemsbok .....

Yes, I found this sequence quite fascinating as one can clearly see its entire movement including the last STRETCH... tu2

Hi Tim,

First IMG frame shows 52 seconds to the second to the last full-stretch leap shot 52 seconds...this is a 6-shot sequence...so, basically the entire sequence was a ONE SECOND BURST as I panned this distance...~6 fps...as the last shot behind the bush shows 53 seconds...

This was the last Oryx in a herd of 8 IIRC that we happened upon...and as you can see they high-tailed it outta there rotflmo

Canon XTi 70-200/f4L IS USM + 1.4x/TC
AV Mode/Burst Mode
ISO 400
AV 7.1
SS 1000
EC -1/3

Hope this helps!!!

Thanks, L-B. Was a great fan of Canon equipment in film-shooting days. Especially liked the "L" lenses because they are both fast and very crisp -- although they didn't have IS in those days.

Late-Bloomer,

Outstanding and I agree with you about Oryx...a grand trophy.

Just curious-who did you have print the panorama...is it one of those "wall adhesive" prints and then framed on the wall or something else...details please.

Thank you!

Not doing the "wall adhesive" prints, but I shopped the internet and have been speaking with several vendors...

Some are better than others of course.

But I feel most comfortable with ColorEnlargements.com

I have spoken in-depth with the owner and I trust my investment with their company!

As far as the frame/mounting I will be constructing this myself as I enjoy finish carpentry... Big Grin
