SCI International Hunter of the Year, 2019 I believe. Not the first time he has been in trouble. He is named in the lawsuit in the Minnesota grain co op whose manager allegedly stole millions for hunting, real estate and related things. Sued his father Jack Link when he was terminated 10 plus years ago and got something like $19 million, iirc.

I think most of those doing business Jerry Hennessey had no idea he was stealing money . As luck would have it, I was finishing up a buff hunt in Australia and Hennessey showed up with his wife for a hunt on my last day. This was just before his world imploded.

Never met Jay but I would give him the benefit of the doubt on that one.

Another black eye for SCI and it’s awards program. International hunter of the year indeed! What’s he hunting abroad? More talent?

Links Wild Safaris is a major sponsor of Rugged Expeditions with Alain Smith as host. Pretty entertaining hunting show, featuring a lot of premier African hunting destinations. I guess they weren’t kidding when they named it “Wild Safaris”. Jay sounds like a real class act- sues his own Dad for millions and posts risque pictures of his girlfriends.

If that is his thing, it is his business. Up to him. However, the allegations (if true) of total misrepresentation of the involvement of others is more than a little bothersome.

I just skimmed the article, I didn’t catch the total valuation of Jack Link’s, or what percentage Jay purported to own, but that company and its subsidiaries is more valuable than I thought! They do spend quite a bit on advertising and just a small pouch of jerky isn’t cheap for what you get.

I have said it many time before, anyone winning anything from SCI should be avoided like the plague!

SCI has an uncanny talent for picking crooks!

The should change their moto from FIRST FOR HUNTERS to FIRST FOR CROOKS AND SELF GLORIFYING IDIOTS!

I am not sure they have an uncanny talent for picking crooks, but they do seem to appeal to many who appear to me to be self-absorbed.

He won the 2019 Conklin Award which is not a DSC award. But the Conklin Foundation has used our convention as the venue to present their award for a number of years.

"There are three categories that comprise the awards submission document, the Ballot.

Hunting Accomplishments
Conservation and Education
Character and Sportsmanship"

First-time nominees are never allowed to win the Weatherby Award, gives The Board at least a year to look into the "categories" of the nominees.
The character and sportsmanship aspect might knock him out of the running next time, you think?

I was walking out of the grocery store last night and saw a bunch of Jack Links jerky by the register. I reached for one, then remembered 'sexsafari' Jay, shuddered, and continued on my way...

Maybe Jaybird Link has kissed and spanked a lot of ass?
He sure has a huge following: SCI, Weatherby Award board of directors, litigious women ...

Thanks for the clarification. I was at the award, but could not remember which venue...

Hilarious,

That begs the metaphor of Jay "Fly" Link kissing asses, looking for fresh shit.
