Safari Specialty Importers is excited to announce that USFW has approved and issued 6 Zimbabwe elephant import permits, and we have one of them! This has been the patient work of over five years of constant communication, providing information to USFW, and never letting their deafening silence discourage us from getting this permit.

The below article from the New York Times provides further details on the issued permits. Safari Specialty Importers is redoubling our efforts with the remaining permits we are overseeing, and are confident that we should see those issued in the near future as well!

Any idea on imports going forward?

We have confirmed the permits that we are overseeing have all the details required, and that they just need to be processed by USFW. USFW has stated that their goal is to address all back-logged permit applications by the end of 2022.

The news isn't good. Looks like the SCI lawsuit way back did not bode well for those hunting in 2014 and 2015.

The ones recently approved were 2017.

The six recently issued permits were all from 2017. We currently have several clients who hunted elephants in 2014/15 that we are working on with USFW. USFW's stated goal is to address all back-logged permit applications by the end of 2022. If you have an application that you would like SSI to take oversight on, please get in contact with me.
