Hello everyone,

I have been reading articles in this forum for a long time but never came across anyone using the .375/380gr Rhino Bullets on African game? I would be very delighted to read stories, if any, of hunters using that exact bullet on African big game. I am very curious to see if there is any advantage in the field, (I do not care for theory,) using this bullet over let say a classic 300gr premium. So if you have any great stories, or even better, stories and pictures with the game hunted, bullet performance, please post freely!!!

Till then,

Take care all,

Alf

Thank you for posting the picture of the .500 Jeffery solid from Rhino bullets. That is the exact look I want for my own "new" bullet But I think that I will make it 550 grn That sounds better and 5 50 has a nice ring to it. Ja
Same tip as the Speer african grand slam. and the groves like the Impala bullet Ja. Piggyback riding is so easy

Cheers,

Andr

Pierre van Tonder shot some buffalo with his 500 Jefferys and the 500 gr. Rhino softs this year and shot into some dead buffalo also..He had them loaded at about 2250 FPS...The Rhino softnose bullets failed to expanded at all...Apparantly the jacket is too thick or hard, they are simply solids for all practical purposes....Granted they were slightly loaded down, but still were within the expansion range I would hope...Even loaded max, the probably would not expand at 75 to a 100 yards it would seem....

As to the 380 gr. 375, I have had a lot of trouble getting a powder that fits with that overly long bullet, that would get any velocity...I think that is a case of going overboard on weight, its not needed, 350 grs. is max for the 375 IMO, and 300 is capable of anything I will shoot. I have not shot game with the Rhino 350, only used them on the range trying to come up with a proper load..nothing yet that blows my skirt up..

I would like to try the Rhinos in standard weight bullets in the 375 and 416s...

I did use and loved that 350 gr. Woodleighs in the 375...They have the right ogive and load easily with RL-15 and they really expand and kill buffalo with aplomb...As far as a soft goes, they cannot be beat in a 375 H&H and the same is true of the 450 gr. 416 Woodlieghs, which I used year before last on Buffalo, wow!, they work great and the expanded bullets look like golf balls...
