Just found out that I am going to Reno and I am looking for a room. Does anybody have a extra room booked at the peppermill that they don't need anymore? I will need it from January 22 to January 26. Just thought I would check before I look else where.

This is my first trip. Looking forward to it.

Thanks

Graylake

If the Peppermill does not work out the Silver Legacy has always been great. The shuttle to the convention works out well and goes to the shows and dinners as well.

Lots of good conversation to had at the Rum Bar, just saying.

If nothing happens with the peppermill, I was looking at circus circus. Is that a good option or are there better ones?

like the silver legecy.

Circus Circus is less expensive and in the three hotel complex with El Dorado and Silver Legacy in downtown Reno. There is all day shuttle service to the show so it doesn't matter if you are closer to the actual show by staying at the Peppermill. Cicus Circus is just a place to sleep, not fancy but clean and convenient to lots of restaurants etc right in the complex. I booked my room recently at $129 per night and the rate stays the same regardless of the day of the week.

There probably still are rooms available at the Peppermill, but not at the SCI discounted rate. I tried booking at a couple of other hotels this week and that was the case. I finally got a room at the Grand Sierra Resort.

This convention could be bigger than Vegas. I don't remember a time in the 30 years I've been attending SCI conventions when more than one or two Reno hotels filled their SCI quotas.

I usually stay at the Silver Legacy, but I have a heart condition that makes it tough to walk very far without resting, and it's a long way from the rooms to the Legacy's restaurants and shuttle stop. The woman I talked with at the Grand Sierra said the shuttle stops just outside the door near the elevator.

Ya I know many will disagree but I much prefer it when SCI is in Reno. Was planning to go next year and now I see it is back to Vegas again in 2014. I really don't like the Vegas, at least not the new strip.

Oh well.

I like the Grand Sierra. I always stay there for business and I'm up there probably once a month. It's not the least expensive (especially if you stay in the Summit part), but it is very nice and I believe they have a shuttle.

I you stay at Circus Circus just don't eat there. The food is less than bad. They even manage to screw up ham and eggs.
Fortunately there are some good restaurants near by in the Eldorado.
Better yet Beaujolais Bistro is close by and is very good food. 4th st bistro is one of my favorite places to eat, followed by Lulou's and Atlantis Steak house.
For breakfast there is Peg's Glorified Ham and Eggs which is good.

Just make sure when you come to Reno you gamble a lot. It helps my taxes dancing
