Well I've finally started plans for my next(3rd) safari. I've been to South Africa twice and had a ball. Mozambique interests me a lot. This would be a plains game safari with Bushbuck as my main quarry. I'm working on my buddy who would like to do a cape buffalo> This would be his 3rd trip as well. Suggestions?

Thanks

You might look into JP Kleinhans. Rumor has it he has Mahimba back under his control. I hunted there in 09' and buffalo and bushbuck were thick. I know there was some mismanagement by another operator for a year or two, but JP was whipping it back into shape. Just google JP Kleinhans and you will find his site.

Second the motion on JP. I hunted the area in 06 and had a great time. He has had a couple of seasons to recover from the cock up with the other operator, and he says things are good again.

Moz has two different kind of buf hunts, one in the swamps and one on dry land. He would need to think about that. I would call the Duckworths. They can arrange both and you can't go with better folks.

Make it 2 for Mokore and the Duckworths. They can do a combo hunt for you and take you to a great buffalo are and they have perhaps the best plains game area in Moz with plenty of bushbuck and spiral horns

The Duckworths come highly recommended as well. I haven't hunted with them yet, but will hunt with Gary in 2015.

Have hunted twice with Zambeze Delta Safaris and the Haldane brothers. Highly recommended. The buffalo are generally in the swamps which is a great experience.

Makore Safaris, Nyati Safaris and Kambako Safaris would be my pick of a few.

Ditto on Zambeze Delta Safaris and the Haldane brothers. Hunting Buffalo in the swamps is like no other buffalo hunting! Sable, Suni, Duiker, Nyala, Bushbuck, Reedbuck, Croc, bushpig in good numbers. The camps and staff were great.

Best regards, D. Nelson

Kambako just added another 450,000 hectare's of land to their already huge operation. Excellent references with numerous AR members having hunted with Jumbo's operation. I'll be glad to send you prices for next year, just drop me a line or PM. Cheers, LDK

JP KLEINHANS ! His Mahimba area has the best bushbuck I have ever seen in all of Africa. Simply unbelievable rams all over his Mahimba area. Soil, feed, genetics ? Not sure, but the best quality of bushbucks on average I have ever seen. Lots of other good stuff as well.

A stones throw from Mozambique is the Luangwa valley and Thor Kirchner of Munyamadzi has some of the finest bushbuck to be found on the continent. To hunt these wary animals along the sandy banks of the river is one of the finest of sports. Area is also great for Kudu, Buff, Puku and a host of other interesting animals.

I have been hunting Mozambique since 2009 and have two areas there now. All the operators mentioned here are great people and run top outfits. There is only one area that is truly tops for a genuine PG in Mozambique and that is Coutada's 10,11,12 and 14. The guys that operate here are the Haldane Brothers, and Paul Fereirra (spelling??) at Morremeu Safaris. All of it in the Zambezi Delta drainage. You will be hard pressed to have a truly fantastic PLAINS GAME safari in the other areas. Bushbuck though, are EVERYWHERE!

Charl,

You exaggerate. In Zambia the bushbuck are found in vast herds as far as the eye can see.

Cheers
