I had not thought of this before, but Charles Helm and jdollar do raise a good point.

I guess I would be inclined to classify fish in a barrel as "estate fish."

DSC has their annual DSC Member Trophy Competition. According to their website, "In the spirit of celebrating the experience and joy of hunting, DSC honors the animals taken in the past year through the annual DSC Member Trophy Competition. As judged by a panel of DSC experts, awards are presented for the best trophies in several categories including region, species and the method of take."

Anyone who has hunted for any period of time would know that real trophies do not grow on trees.

90% of shooting any trophy is down to just sheer luck of being at the right place at the right time.

Anything else is man made.

Have a look at many of the recipients of so many SCI awards for trophies, and those who have multiple trophies in the book, gotten through specific criminals posing as PHs, and you will see what I mean.

They find the desired trophy, catch it, tied up, and call the clueless idiot to fly immediately over to shoot his next ticket into one of the SCI Inner Circles.

How sick can an individual really be to do this??

Why hasn't SCI ever put a stop to this??

Because they are the leaders in fake hunting.

There is no comparison between the SCI and DSC programs. DSC has no program that I am aware of where you are able to purchase "awards" for your "achievements". DSC maintains no "record book" that you can pay your way into, nor the ridiculous circles and other nonsense. Why SCI persists in this program, much less expanding it to include birds of all things, in the face of current public attitudes towards "trophy hunting" is nothing short of stupefying.

The leadership of SCI has been nothing short of stupefying for at least the last 15 years- probably longer. SCI persists in this nonsense because there are ego driven rich hunters who support it.

I should have clarified that I wasn't intending to compare SCI and DSC's awards. While DSC doesn't have a record book, DSC does have an awards program that is very different from SCI's.

I am passionate about Wingshooting and that passion has lead me to shoot a number of different species of African Game Birds and Waterfowl in a few different African countries. SCI would do well to explain in which countries and on what licenses some of these species will be "collected". Some of them are incredibly rare and locals do not consider it ethical and sustainable to hunt them.
