I am just too excited! 375John, my son, and I are heading to parts of this world known to produce better than average ivory.

We went shopping at the local Bass Pros yesterday, and bought $$$ worth of stuff we probably don't need, but hey, that's a big part of the fun. Still more to go as our own personal attempt for economic stimulus aimed at the sporting industries.

Thanks to all for the advice given to my son (younggun90) for his upcoming video of my ele hunt. If things go according to plan, I will video his first buffalo hunt! Ty's enlistment in the Corps has been delayed by 2 months. Delta had room for him, the Marines currently do not. So off we go!

John and I both own Heym .470s. Should do the trick. We are still perfecting our loads, but are pretty close to the magic formula.

We are both taking the .375s. Might be some clawed critters than need sorting out, though in the wet season I am told it could be tough. We have a bit of work to do on the .375 load recipe. Adds to the fun (stress?), and it can leave a pretty good hole in the plan if we do not get it right. Not too worried though, my ammo belt still has a few left from last year. They work A-OK.

We are both making and remaking lists - medicine, insurance, gear, gifts... it goes on. With only 18 days to go, it's hard to think there is enough time. It will go by in a blink - or an eternity! Wink

Full report(s) to follow.

Cheers!

I hear you. I've been packing and unpacking and repacking for a week already, and I don't fly out for thirty-six more days. This is worse than the week before Christmas...

Good Hunting,

Rich

Where in Zim? Outfitter? PH?

Eles and Buff and what else? Was "claws" a reference to Mr. Spots?

Details man! Details!

I need a fix.

Good luck on your hunt to the both of you. What a wonderful opportunity for you guys.

It's about time the forum has some members actually going to Africa and hunting the big nasties instead of preying on each other at the keyboard. This type of thing always breaks out when hunting is slow, so thanks for getting us back on track. A report is expected on your return.

Well, Recon is his goal. He is pretty good swimmer, we will see.

But alas, nothing more romantic than Delta airlines!

Thanks,

Jack,
The best of luck to you and your companions. You will be hunting in one of the best big tusker areas of Zimbabwe. Size up your quarry well and shoot accurately!

I wondered because when I was in you had to be at least an E5 if you were enlisted or a CPT with Co Cd under your belt before you were even allowed to apply.

I imagine the standards have only gone up since I was in.
