What is wrong with the Blaser and those who shoot it!

Have a look at the above video.

It is of Walter trying to sight in his Blaser.

Notice that one round misfired. There was nothing wrong with it at all, as he did not close the bolt completely, and the firing pin did not hit the primer at all!!??

The ammo he was shooting was specially loaded NOT to shoot well.

The rifle was chambered for the 7x64 Brenneke.

I loaded 270 caliber bullets in it, and amazingly it shot reasonably well - about 2 inches!!

That is not what I wanted. I wanted groups closer to yards than inches.

The bullets were Nosler Partition, and I drilled the rear end to varying degrees, so no two bullets were the same weight.

That did the trick.

One round actually landed about halfway between us and the target!

I think this video demonstrates the need to properly adjust the nut to the rear of the trigger on all rifles.

Legistine actu quod scripsi?

Never under estimate the internet community's ability to reply to your post with their personal rant about their tangentially related, single occurrence issue.

What I have learned on AR, since 2001:
1. The proper answer to: Where is the best place in town to get a steak dinner? is…You should go to Mel's Diner and get the fried chicken.
2. Big game animals can tell the difference between .015 of an inch in diameter, 15 grains of bullet weight, and 150 fps.
3. There is a difference in the performance of two identical projectiles launched at the same velocity if they came from different cartridges.
4. While a double rifle is the perfect DGR, every 375HH bolt gun needs to be modified to carry at least 5 down.
5. While a floor plate and detachable box magazine both use a mechanical latch, only the floor plate latch is reliable. Disregard the fact that every modern military rifle uses a detachable box magazine.
6. The Remington 700 is unreliable regardless of the fact it is the basis of the USMC M40 sniper rifle for 40+ years with no changes to the receiver or extractor and is the choice of more military and law enforcement sniper units than any other rifle.
7. PF actions are not suitable for a DGR and it is irrelevant that the M1, M14, M16, & AK47 which were designed for hunting men that can shoot back are all PF actions.
8. 95 deg F in Africa is different than 95 deg F in TX or CA and that is why you must worry about ammunition temperature in Africa (even though most safaris take place in winter) but not in TX or in CA.
9. The size of a ding in a gun's finish doesn't matter, what matters is whether it’s a safe ding or not.
10. 1 in a row is a trend, 2 in a row is statistically significant, and 3 in a row is an irrefutable fact.
11. Never buy a WSM or RCM cartridge for a safari rifle or your go to rifle in the USA because if they lose your ammo you can't find replacement ammo but don't worry 280 Rem, 338-06, 35 Whelen, and all Weatherby cartridges abound in Africa and back country stores.
12. A well hit animal can run 75 yds. in the open and suddenly drop with no initial blood trail, but the one I shot from 200 yds. away that ran 10 yds. and disappeared into a thicket and was not found was lost because the bullet penciled thru. I am 100% certain of this even though I have no physical evidence.
13. A 300 Win Mag is a 500 yard elk cartridge but a 308 Win is not a 300 yard elk cartridge even though the same bullet is travelling at the same velocity at those respective distances.

I remember seeing that in the hunting film from Saeed several years ago. I saved it and sent it to several of my friends in Canada who got as much fun out of it as I did. I hadn't seen that for years and it was just as funny today as it was years ago!

I only have a problem with two Blasers. The bolt rifles are not control feed, but the straight pull action is about the only bolt rifle made that has a chance with a good shooter of beating a good double rifle shooter for four aimed shots in less than four seconds.

My problem with the S2 double is it automatically de-cocks the action if opened for any reason, and does not re-cock the rifle on closing but must be re-cocked manually.

The problem that bothers me but is not a real reason to dislike them is they are butt ugly.

................................................................Just one mans opinion and not a reason for someone who does like them to shy away from owning as many as he can afford, they are just not for me! If that makes me a TURD then where is my roll of paper!

They're all .500 NE. Like MacD says, they're hard for a simpleton to operate so I don't reload/recock, I just have one o my boys hand me a fresh rifle and let them do the loading and cocking.

I can see where a common calibre is vital with your system. Different calibres could be lead to a real FUBAR with simpletons involved..

TRue.

The Blaser is made for those who cannot think for themselves.

Buy a rifle in one caliber, and feed it anything else but that one clap

Sounds about right too!

The only person I know who loves his Blaser is Walter.

And I have known him for so many years.

And he is as far removed from a normal human being as one can get, on two legs beer

Blaser pro might be the best african rifle for a client.

- break down
- multiple barrels/calibers
- multiple scopes
- excellent mounts that don't lose zero
- best safety
- more accurate than any hunter or hunting use

I wish I had bought a blaser but now I have too many rifles than will be outdated if get a blaser.

Also I like wood stock rifles and on a blaser wood is wasted.
