Try a 44 magnum in one of the longer barreled versions. Smith makes a good one as does Ruger.

Monster,

KWTX has excellent suggestions. I don't think you can go wrong with either. My neighbor has had good success with the Ruger but the gunsmith I use swears the Dan Wesson revolver is the most accurate, to the point it can rival the bolt action models.

I think this will depend on your tolerance for recoil.
Personally I use a 45 Colt in most instances. A Smith and Wesson model 25 for deer using lighter hand loads. A Colt Anaconda with heavier hand loads using 300 grain cast bullets does nicely. And for real romping stomping loads the Ruger Blackhawk or Redhawk with balls to the wall handloads.
