Gentlemen, what do you know about the 400/375 Belted Rimless? I have just read a little about it, but if I have understood correctly, it was with that Holland and Holland created the belted magnum case in 1906. The case have standard lenght. Fritz K.

I think what your refering to is the original version of the 416 Remington, simply a 375 H&H necked up, in this instance I believe they used a .408 or .411 bullet, depending on who furnished the barrel...as I recall. ------------------

William and Chris, thanks for your interesting informations. Some background to my question: I found the cartridge in the swedish official classification list for rifle cartridges. (Rifle cartridges here have four classes: #1 for all game - #4small predators, crows et c.) It is listed as 9,5x63BR or .400/375 H&H. As I have never heard or read about it, I made a question. There are a lot of obsolete calibers in that list. Yours, Fritz [This message has been edited by Fritz Kraut (edited 10-11-2001).]

A person known to me has a bolt action rifle by H&H in this calibre. Rifle is in very fine condition and a delight to handle. Luckily he got some old Kynoch ammo for it. However, there is no practical use of this rifle in this country except wild boar. Saad
