what do you know about the 400/375 Belted Rimless? I have just read a little about it, but if I have understood correctly, it was with that Holland and Holland created the belted magnum case in 1906. The case have standard lenght.

I have a penchant for old and obsolete guns and ammunition.
The 400/375 Holland & Holland was the first belted magnum case introduced by Holland & Holland in 1905. It was, and is, actually .371" ( caliber ).
Unless you can find some dealer who trades in obsolete cartridges, who has cases, you will need to make your own. It takes some time and effort. About the closest case you can find that has useable dimensions is the .240 Weatherby. The .240 is a 6MM so it will be necessary to anneal the necks and expand them. .240 Weatherby cases may not be the easiest nor least expensive to buy.
The case rim and belt must be turned down. The rim is actually rebated slightly. Thereafter the cases need to be fire formed.
The 400/375 was a good performer in its day but is is practically the same as a 30-06. Therefore, unless you already own a 400/375 or are acquiring one, other rifles certainly outperform this one.

thanks for your interesting informations.
Some background to my question: I found the cartridge in the swedish official classification list for rifle cartridges. (Rifle cartridges here have four classes: #1 for all game - #4small predators, crows et c.) It is listed as 9,5x63BR or .400/375 H&H. As I have never heard or read about it, I made a question. There are a lot of obsolete calibers in that list.
Yours,
Fritz
