Has anyone mailed a Tuffpack with a rifle in it within the U.S.?

I am thinking it would be a good way to package a rifle for FFL to FFL transfer of a new purchase via USPS.

Thoughts?

Thanks!
Dave

I know Andy Hawk uses USPS. I also bought a tuffpak from Frank Martinez and he mailed it up here to AK via USPS. So I would assume you could put a rifle in it and ship via USPS.

Thanks guys. Guess it was a bit off-topic for this forum section. Think I overshot my Tango quota for the evening!

Appreciate the responses...

Dave,

I've shipped rifles a number of times via USPS. It works great and is much cheaper than UPS. For hunts within the US I just send the guns ahead addressed to myself c/o the outfitter. Makes flying to a hunt alot easier.

Thanks Mark. I always use USPS as well..you know how it is in Ak...

Mainly I was wondering about mailing a rifle in a TuffPak. Seems a reasonable idea to protect the rifle...

Dave,

I do know how it is in Alaska. I lived in Dillingham for 22 years. I don't see why the Tuffpak would not work fine. I've shipped rifles in all sorts of inexpensive cases so the Tuffpak should be even better.

My recommendation would be to send it by UPS and spend a little more on your piece of mind. Years ago, I too, had a brand new Browning pump shotgun come up missing through USPS. Never arrived and they could never locate it. It's your gun and your call however.

I've sent two by mail. One with and one without a rifle. The rifled case was locked and well padded. The cost from the hub is lower than the UPS store if you go that route.
