Phil,

Any ideas on getting the website to work or is there an alternate address to use. Maybe the site is just temporarily down? Anyway, I'll add my vote if I can get access.

OK, well the site must have been temporarily down. I clicked on it again and it worked. Vote has been cast. Good luck Tia.

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

Voted for Tia Shoemaker, may she make tracks in Africa, and may the Bateleur soar overhead daily with her there.

Tia and I both want to thank all of you who have voted. She has received word that this voting/popularity portion of the contest amounts to half of the total and some of the other contestants, who are already in the media, are pretty good at generating publicity.
Definitely more so than Tia who is back up at her non-electric cabin in Talkeetna.
Thanks for your votes and if you let other friends know it can't hurt.

The judges decision came out this morning and Ruth Cussak was the final winner. Tia wrote to congratulate her and said at least she was glad it went to another Alaskan.
Tia was second and although she won the overall popular vote the decision went to the judges.

Thank all of you for voting -- now it looks like I will need to find a good African PH at SCI who wants to trade services so Tia and I can hunt buffalo together,

Andrew,

You ought to consider a trade and factor some extra time in to come and hang out with Bait Babe and I. Be sure to bring Julie.

How about you do something for wildlife conservation? How about donating to conservation organizations and ensuring a sustainable wildlife to hunt?

It's usually all about what YOU or what your Daughter wants, how about what the Wildlife NEEDS ? Help wildlife to help yourself. You are a selfish man.

458Win has probably earned over $1Million hunting game animals; yet, he has provided almost nothing back to conserve them and sustain their species and in fact has complained about increased guiding fees.

That's very telling.

Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt.

Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.
