Hello,

Any info on this? I read there are two authorized companies currently: Game Trails Ltd and Lake Albert Safaris.

I'd appreciate any more info folks have on Uganda.

I might be going there next year for a mission trip and what better way to end it than doing a plainsgame hunt afterwards?

I represent an Outfitter in Uganda. You can read my info-post in the Outfitters forum. We offer Nile Bushbuck, Uganda Kob and a few other PG. We have a tremendous number of Kob, so some of our clients are taking one with firearm, and other with bow. Email if you have any questions.
Good hunting,
David

Here's a pic of two Kob taken in our area recently. One with rifle, one with bow.
Cheers,
David

The Uganda Government and Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) have realized that in order to have effective conservation, develop existing Wildlife Reserves, attract tourists, generate revenue, and help developing local communities, technical cooperation with private investors was the key.

UWA is now establishing a new structure for wildlife management with this approach in mind. After an open bidding process, several Companies have been appointed as Management Partners for most of the existing WRs in the country. Conservation, tourism, and hunting are part of the program.

Uganda aim at being competitive with its neighbours, especially Kenya and Tanzania. They are defining a price policy that will be attractive in comparison.

Since the whole industry is being more or less rebuilt from the ground up, it may take some time, but Uganda is definitely going to be an attractive destination for wildlife viewing and big game hunting in the near future.

Add that the country is beautiful, has a wonderful weather, and people are welcoming, and you have a good recipe for success...

As things develop, you'll surely see more on this site.

"Hi Lane

I do apologise for not being in contact more frequently. I continue to have a terrible time trying to send and receive mails here in Zimbabwe. There is a lot to catch up on, which I will save until I see you early next year in the States. I have just returned from Uganda where we shot what is possibly the first legal Cape Buffalo taken in 40 odd years. It is an exciting country and there is still a lot to learn and organise.

Regards
Nigel"

Here is an e-mail from my friend Nigel Theisen. He is a PH from Zim that hunted Uganda this last year.
