A client of mine recently shot what is commonly referred to as a "3 horn Kudu" The "Third Horn" is a small hornlike growth about an inch high and 3 inches in length. The location of the horn is just above the V on the front of the head. This is only the second one I've seen, the other was at a local Taxidermist. Has any of the AR members taken a kudu like this or perhaps be able to shed more light on the phenomena? The kudu I shot in Namibia had a third horn like that. I played it to the hilt with the guy I was hunting with. My bull was about 52" and he'd already shot a bull in the low fifties so we hunted longer to take a better bull for him. He passed a lot of bulls to get a really good one. His was 56" and perfectly formed, it was a terrific trophy. So at least one per day for the rest of the safari I would say, "You sure shot a good kudu. Great length, perfect form, you should really be proud of it... for a kudu with ONLY TWO HORNS!" We still laugh about that.

Shona, I shot a 60/61' in 1993 that had a third horn about 4 times larger. It was 6 7/8" long and 1 3/4" tall-even worn down-and about 2" wide. They are a unique attraction for sure. The display of PURE POWER is nothing short of AWESOME ! 1 JOHN 3:18
