Do a quick search on his name...you will get more than what you are looking for! Quite a heated topic at times!

We're going to be "gifted" with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and fined if we don't, Which purportedly covers at least ten million more people, without adding a single new doctor, but provides for 16,000 new IRS agents, written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that didn't read it but exempted themselves from it, and signed by a President, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, for which we'll be taxed for four years before any benefits take effect, by a government which has already bankrupted Social Security and Medicare, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's broke!!!!! High intellect, great speaking skills, and all of his multiple charges are non provoked. So that the animal can “choose†how it is going to die. Roll Eyes

However, no one can deny that he has some of the best camera work and the video quality is a step above most of the stuff we coming out nowadays.
He is also pretty handy with a double. His videos have a cartoonish action packed theme to them that obviously sell.

They do not however, portray what a real life DG hunt is like or how it should be conducted.

His videos are to a true hunting experience as what Capstick was to a true PH. Fun to read about but not very realistic.

I've spoken with Mark on several occasions and have no problem with him in person. Seems like a nice enough guy to me.

BUT anybody who watches his videos and thinks that they are seeing real deal, non set up, non provoked, non carefully picked for the camera angle charges is a frickin MORON. PEROID!

That's kind of like watching the movie Top Gun and coming away thinking that is how aerial combat is conducted. What is cool to watch on the big screen seldom transfers to reality. And Marks videos are entertainment and nothing else.

He does a damn good job at what he does, wether you like the content or not. I'll give him that.

Smiler

PS

capebuf,

Mark books hunts and is usually available. If you want to hunt hunt with him why don't you just do it? Life is short brother, do it while you still can.

I ordered "Death Rush" back in October and never received it as of about December 5th or so. I called the phone number listed next to the transaction and I was surprised when Mark actually answered....yes Mark himself. I told him the deal and he appologized to me and took down my name and address and said he would send it out priority mail. I got it 3 days later. While I was on the phone, he asked if I had seen the movie yet, and was a bit chatty.
This is my sum total of experiences with Mark. I can say that he kept his word...there have been many who haven't.
Concerning his hunting, etc. all I can say is that you should know what you're getting into when you hunt with him (although I've seen a few of his movies where there were many animals taken wothout a charge) and if you choose to hunt...have a great time.
IF...and I do say IF, he DELIBERATELY wounds animals in order to make them charge, I would have no use for that whatsoever. If he simply manuvers himself and his client in order to receive a charge...that's a choice he and his client have made.....so what.
He asked me to look him up at Reno and say hello...I intend to do that.
No one is ever going to please everyone....what a shock.
I'll judge (maybe I should say form my opinions) a man on my own experiences with him or from sources I personally know and trust.
And yes, his videos are very entertaining.

Thats the BS that you hear about sullivan that he wounds animals to get a charge, because he follows up tracking a buffalo he sees the buffalo on the follow and instead of shooting at that point he walks up to that buffalo and whats for the reaction,if the buffalo charges he puts im down i dont see anything wrong with that.

The best description any of us here can apply to this chatacter is;

The most UNPROFESSIONAL man claiming to BE a professional hunter.

The responsibility of a pro is to make sure the CLIENT kills the animals he has paid for, as quickly as possible.

To stand in front of the camera, with the same B-rated heavy breathing as a porno movie, telling us he is giving the buffalo a choice of how to die is utterly stupid. And to top it all he proceeds to make himself as the hero of these adventures by shooting the animals himself.

That old saying "one born every day" applies to those who hunt with Mark Sullivan.

Anyone who does not see the sad fact under the extremely thin veneer Mark puts on his films needs to learn a little bit about hunting ethics.

WE beat this subject to death on this forum, and then somepeople actually defend the begaviour of someone like Mark Sullivan.

My own take on it is he is no better to my type of hunting as what PETA puts out.

Unbelievable.

capebuf,

Apparently you enjoy his videos and that is your business. I'm happy for you and I'm glad that they bring you enjoyment.

I try my best to not get charged and so far have only had one mishap on buffalo.

I am sill wondering though why you don't go out and do the real thing? You are only getting older not to mention Mark, he's no spring chicken anymore either. If you are really serious about wanting to go do it, don't wait.

I wish you luck and happy hunting. thumb

Capebuf,

Oh my, it looks like I misread your first post. I thought that you said you would like to hunt with Mark. My mistake.

So I guess there is no reason to even bring this subject up if you've already hunted with Mark, and you are already an experienced buff hunter. Why is it important to you what others think of him?

Now I've been as pleasant as I can be in answering your posts. Yet you seem to be unable reciprocate in kind. I think you are simply looking for a fight and aren't really interested in anything anybody has to post.

With that in mind I bid you goodnight sir..

I know several people in our local SCI chapter who go to Africa on an annual basis (and sometimes twice a year) who have hunted with him multiple times and they swear by him...if fact several are in his earlier videos.

He's spoken at several of our chapter meetings and he is very charismatic. One other thing to consider is his rates are also very high compared to others I've seen.

Would I book a hunt with him ----- no!

Send Walter to hunt naked with MS. This should give MS ample opportunities to shoot. Could be the next MS porno gimmick. If we are lucky he will shoot Walter. They deserve each other. banana

Seeing Americans liked S.E. so much, I thought Chevy should bring out an anniversary model Corvette Stingray in honor of him.

Imagine if MS&SE had teamed up together...but I dont think there was a spotlight or camera big enough for the both of them.

I don't know much about Sullivan as all I have seen is his video footage.

But one thing you can say about him, is at least he gets close and personal to the buffalo, and doesn't snipe them from afar.

I saw part of one of his videos once and will never watch one again. The way it was done just made me feel real sorry for the animal. When an animal is wounded it is cruel to prolong its suffering for any reason. The guy needs phychiatric help.

Please don't take my post as a defense of Mark....I don't know the man. I DO watch some of his videos and yes, I find them entertaining. Would I hunt with Mark?...probably not. I just don't see the big deal with him one way or the other....to each his own...provided as I said in my earlier post...that he doesn't deliberately wound animals.
I'll bet he doesn't have trouble with bookings, though. I would imagine that some would be getting more than they bargin for...

Given the amount of video out there I would say that any person booking with MS is making an informed decision and not an assumption. When he cultivated his macho superman persona he was trying to appeal to a certain crowd and he has been very successful; it has also made persona non grata with a significant percentage of hunters, myself included.

If someone wants to make a decision based on his videos to book with him, that's fine. If I believe that his videos are, at best, childish macho behavior and decide never to book with him that is fine also.

This thread asked for people's feelings on MS and that is what people are posting.

I find MS's videos entertaining. I can't wait for some future video featuring one of his favorite buff charges "let him choose how he wants to die" stuff---showing MS getting the stuffing stomped out of him! ha! animal

I would most surely buy that one!! Big Grin

I will give MS credit for his great double tube shooting skills and his entertaining videos!

I wouldn't hunt with him though. The way I see it:
he charges the client for a safari and trophy fees but the hunt is really about him (MS) not the client. The safari is Sullivans and not the client. It is all about Mark hunting for his pleasure and profit--- Marks does the killing.

If you are OK with picking up the tab for Sullivan to hunt, stock and kill your trophy-- then go for it--Have fun hunting with him.. I am not going on a hunt structured like that.

have a Marry Christmas -- and good hunting!!!
