For those of you currently in contact with Thor of Munyamadzi fame you need to be aware that late yesterday afternoon, Thor was hurt in an accident and could be out of communication for a period.
Thor and his last client of the season were just settling into a Machan to sit for a Hyena.
In the previous days they had successfully hunted a heavy horned Roan and equally heavy Impala and Bushbuck.
Both gentlemen fell around 8 metres to the ground when a wire cable unexpectedly broke and the Machan partially collapsed.

Thor has suffered some back and/or pelvis damage and perhaps some suspected internal injury. His client, a robust Aussie chap faired a little better and has severe bruising and potentially a fractured elbow.

Emergency paramedics drove through the night arriving at camp in the early hours to stabilise the patients prior to their medivac flight that has just departed.

I’ll update AR members with further detail as scan results become available. I can advise that Thor has good extension of all limbs and head/neck movement so severe spinal damage is not anticipated.

I’m sure many of you will join me in wishing Thor and Brett speedy and full recoveries.

Special thanks to the SES emergency medical staff.

My thoughts and hope for a speedy recovery to both gentlemen!

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch...
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

Hoping for the best for both guys. I've often wondered after having been in several machans if they ever collapsed.

It certainly is, especially on hard ground.

I fell off a ski lift at over 12 meters, but landed in deep snow, and went in almost to my arm pits.

Glad the snow was so deep!

Damn shame. Thor seems like a heck of a nice and talented fellow. Wish him and the other fellow the best.

Don't need to damage the spine to
wreck a back forever. Just torn muscles can do it too.
Best to them both.
