I’m a newly registered member of the board – just missed out on a cancelled hunt. Just wanted to let all the Outfitters that monitor this board that I would be interested in picking up someone else’s cancelled hunt.

This would be my first Africa hunt – looking to do a 10-day or so plains game hunt (maybe a buff too). Would like to have a chance to see the Big 5-6 in the wild and maybe stalk them but not interested in harvesting one.

Would be interested in nearly every country on the African continent – will be more of a timing thing (getting the short notice leave) balanced with the trophy fees for the particular country.

Great board and have loved lurking here for the past year or so. Hope to be able to give something back someday.

Not if he is looking for an African Hunt. Classified would be for Selling something.

He's in the right place. This is where hunts are posted including cancellations.

I hope you find what you're looking for. Someone will come along before long. With the season underway, there are bound to be other cancellations. The more flexible you are the better chances you have to take advantage of some interesting trips.

Cancellation hunts "can" be a good deal, but they can also just be a marketing sales pitch to sell a hunt in a sub par area or off season. Do your homework! It's my experience most "great" hunting concessions and ranches are fully booked a year or two in advance. Some will even have a waiting lists of hunter willing to pay full price if there is a cancellation. If you find a cancellation hunt insist on talking directly to the hunter that canceled. Why did he cancel? Health problems? Why did he lose his deposit? Was he unhappy with the outfitter? Not many people can just walk away from thousands of dollars. Also realize you will pay substantially higher airline tickets fly on short notice.

I don't want to sound to negative, great deals do come up if you can travel on very short notice. I know of a Lord Derby Eland hunt this fall that went for $15,000 ( 1/3 the cost of a standard safari ) Do your home work !

We have a legit cancellation on an Nyala hunt in Zululand toward end of May. Client broke his ankle. We are offering two free trophies (Impala and Warthog) with two paid trophies (Nyala and any other). Daily rate is $195, original hunt was 6 days but we can probably extend on the front or back end. PM me for full details. No big 5 on this property (leopard yes) but you can visit Hluhluwe National Park about 20 kms from camp if you want to take pics.

Was in the area in September.Very good nyala and bushbuck in the area and Hluhluwe is a great park to visit.Spent two days there and wished I had time for more.

We seldom get to choose
But I've seen them go both ways
And I would rather go out in a blaze of glory
Than to slowly rot away!

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."
