Interesting info on the numbers of leopard actually exported. Botswana [Quota 130] - 115(1999); 124(2000); 54(2001). South Africa [Quota 75] - 15(1999); 37(2000); 35(2001). Tanzania [Quota 250 (currently 500)] - 259(1999); 248(2000); 260(2001). Zambia [Quota 300] - 76(1999); 55(2000); 10(2001). Zimbabwe [Quota 500] - 131(1999); 185(2000); 275(2001). Neat info! Of the little bit of Namibia I saw, I would think there are a lot more leopards than one might think. Also, I have to wonder about how many leopards are trapped or shot by the natives and never reported as a problem animal. They're just glad the damn cat is dead. Now, about this CITES/Cheetah situation... | |||
