Mate I am going public with this as I feel you deserve to dress me down in public. I am man enough to take it. For the rest of you the history is that Jim booked with me in Luangwa because he wanted a Lion and secondly he wanted to hunt with me. I let him down then but he kept with me and encouraged me in my new ventures and we made a plan in the Kafue but this is a fragile project that is still in it's infancy. No he has not paid a deposit but we are dealing with agent who is currently monitoring developments. To date I have no quota and I am working on a promise. I have no camp, no roads, no chef but just miles of pristine bloody Africa that are now and again habited by very big hairy Lion. Jim today is by my side and has been of much encouragement. His meagre request is simply for a good shot at a good Lion, nothing more. I promised this and that and him the first hunting rights and that the camp would be adequate and that I would do my best to accommodate his wife in some degree of comfort. His needs were simple and he expressed them to me. Good bloke Jim and we were to get on fine. Like I said Jim only wants to hunt Lion and maybe I would only conduct one safari here and it would have been his. Sure I could rustle up some cutlery and some bedding and a mosquito net and there is a great site on the Kafue overlooking a pod of Hippo and the odd Sitatunga. Elephant like this place and every few days the Buffalo feed on the floodplains here. With them come the Lion. Thing is we are not hunting these cats and will be more concentrating on the cattle killers of Kaindu. Sounds romantic, sounds wonderful possibly a safari of old where we mix it with a rural and impoverish community, whereas we hunt for their gain. Whereas the shooting of a problem Lion leads to direct incomes for them and the appeasement of my hunter. Sorry mate. I went into Toyota today and I was quoted $78,000 for a pick up, $88,000 with air conditioning some canvas and diff lock. Sorry mate we like John Sharp are going to have to walk. Unless of course we fire up the Land Rover? ROYAL KAFUE LTD Email - kafueroyal@gmail.com Tel/Whatsapp (00260) 975315144 Instagram - kafueroyal

$ 78,000 for a Toyota?! I have heard that the tariffs/import duties in Zambia are especially punitive. I am wondering how much of that $ 78,000 is for the truck and how much is for the government? Good luck with your operation and I hope Jim gets his lion. STAY IN THE FIGHT!

Andrew; This is really going to disappoint Jim. He wanted to shoot a 3 year old lion from the Toyota!!! Best regards, D. Nelson

Andrew, I'm not exactly sure what you are saying and we can certainly discuss that off of AR if need be. For clarity sake, I have already expressed to you that Joyce and I are extremely low maintenance. We lived in bush Alaska and hunted self guided sleeping on the ground and doing our own cooking, quartering, packing, and care of meat. We do not need any form of luxury and do not expect such in your new operation. We will talk later, I must go for now. ______________________ DRSS ______________________ Hunt Reports 2015 His & Her Leopards with Derek Littleton of Luwire Safaris - http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/2971090112 2015 Trophy Bull Elephant with CMS http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/1651069012 DIY Brooks Range Sheep Hunt 2013 - http://forums.accuratereloadin...901038191#9901038191 Zambia June/July 2012 with Andrew Baldry - Royal Kafue http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/7971064771 Zambia Sept 2010- Muchinga Safaris http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/4211096141 Namibia Sept 2010 - ARUB Safaris http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/6781076141

OK, I admit it. I'm too dense to recognize a joke when I see it. Joyce was already boxing up the Kraft Mac & Cheese for camp just in case. Darin, the three year old lion isn't even funny. Now this will be a 12 page thread. ______________________ DRSS ______________________ Hunt Reports 2015 His & Her Leopards with Derek Littleton of Luwire Safaris - http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/2971090112 2015 Trophy Bull Elephant with CMS http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/1651069012 DIY Brooks Range Sheep Hunt 2013 - http://forums.accuratereloadin...901038191#9901038191 Zambia June/July 2012 with Andrew Baldry - Royal Kafue http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/7971064771 Zambia Sept 2010- Muchinga Safaris http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/4211096141 Namibia Sept 2010 - ARUB Safaris http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/6781076141

I pray and hope the illustrios Doug Chester, Esq., does not see this post or you will be offered legal services for putting posts on the internet. Or worse yet, DawnRoar (meow, meow) will contact you with an offer to help you on your cause to shoot a lion and not a kitten. I fear the wannabe lawyers in the US will be all over this, so be forewarned..

The only Toyota dealer in Zambia is, or used to be, Ken Baron in Lusaka! He told me that the import duty on automobiles is 100% or the final cost to the customer is 200% of the original cost plus the seat racks and bush guards of the final Safari set-up Toyota Land Cruiser! Is it any wonder that those things get re-built a dozen times! ………………………………………………. ....Mac >>>===(x)===> MacD37, ...and DUGABOY1 DRSS Charter member "If I die today, I've had a life well spent, for I've been to see the Elephant, and smelled the smoke of Africa!"~ME 1982 Hands of Old Elmer Keith

100% Tariff on a Toyota! No wonder it is so expensive to hunt in Zambia. That's a great way to keep a Third World country in the Third World. STAY IN THE FIGHT!

Brad, I have not a had a good look at Andrew's Land Rover (I will in Sept) but I will tell you that the old short wheelbase models may be tough and scream "Safari" but they are undoubtedly the most uncomfortable vehicle on the planet. Last safari we had a brand new Land Cruiser with AC. It may not have been a "Classic" safari vehicle but it was very very nice. Mark MARK H. Only if you have biceps like John Sharp. The look is unbecoming on most hunters. I won't name names(W*ll....). Jason "You're not hard-core, unless you live hard-core." _______________________ Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt. Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure. -Jason Brown

Andrew, No worries mate!! Forget the Landrover. Joyce has decided since Christmas is coming she will spring for two new vehicles for you and I. They are high stealth units with great mileage. She said she will just trot along behind us. All we need is a shipping address. ______________________ DRSS ______________________ Hunt Reports 2015 His & Her Leopards with Derek Littleton of Luwire Safaris - http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/2971090112 2015 Trophy Bull Elephant with CMS http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/1651069012 DIY Brooks Range Sheep Hunt 2013 - http://forums.accuratereloadin...901038191#9901038191 Zambia June/July 2012 with Andrew Baldry - Royal Kafue http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/7971064771 Zambia Sept 2010- Muchinga Safaris http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/4211096141 Namibia Sept 2010 - ARUB Safaris http://forums.accuratereloadin...6321043/m/6781076141
