I've used photo bucket for every picture I've posted here on AR including the picture heavy African Hunt Reports.

Now it seems I can log in but as soon as I hit "upload" I'm kicked out and have to again log -in.

I have found no solution to this problem. Anyone else experiencing it?

Cheers
Jim

The free service, but when I checked comments on the website it seems many are having the same problem and most are subscribers.

This is exactly why I wish Saeed would change the forum software to one that hosts photos. I realize this site is free and we are enjoying it at Saeed's expense, but AR is the only reason I need a photo bucket account.

Most forums, you can post direct from the post, direct from computer. All these other sites have advertisers to accommodate the more expensive software I guess is the tradeoff.

Hosting pictures on the site would slow it down unless they made significant changes to the server structure. AR has so many videos and images that There are security concerns with allowing the server to do file transfers, i.e. malware, viruses, worms, key loggers, etc. If some idiot uploads porn or bomb making plans then that's hosted to the world by a server in a fundamentalist Muslim country and the photos will remain encoded on the server long after they are deleted. There is also the problem with people uploading copyright material. And how long should everyone's photos remain archived, 2 years, 10 years, forever? I don't think it would be practicable and if I was ever asked I'd recommend against it.

Photobucket and similar services offer free hosting of photos. It is easy to upload a photo, click on "Direct link" and paste it into the little window you get when you click on the image icon in the AR post tool bar. People that think that's a lot of trouble....well, I don't understand that.

It's easy to buy a website and host it on godaddy. Then you have 100% control of all your pics. And you'll be surprised how often you use it to host all your vacation pics and share with your family. And youll be supporting a guy who has hunted elephant.

I guess I understand the technical aspect.

But for you to state it isn't cumbersome? I bet there would be many more reports and stuff if it were drag and click.

It's not about ease of use. The threads about Photobucket now having bugs. I wanted to hear if anyone else had issues. I've used it for years without issue until this week. Their customer support is nonexistent.

10 Free Image Hosting Sites for Your Photos
Upload Your Images to These Sites and Share Them Easily

by Elise Moreau
Updated March 25, 2016
Wondering if there are there any good sites out there made purely for free image hosting? You're in luck!

We spend a lot of our time pushing information around on the web and sharing stuff with our friends, and with an evolving web that's increasingly becoming more visual thanks to mobile browsing, free image hosting is basically a must-have these days. Sometimes, however, a Facebook album or an Instagram post isn't exactly the best solution.

Here are 10 of the best sites that offer free image hosting and make the process of uploading and sharing your images easier than ever.

1 Imgur

If you’ve spent any time at all on Reddit, you probably already know that Imgur is the community's favorite free image hosting site for Redditors. You don’t even need to sign up for a free account if you'd rather not, and you can still upload photos in stunning quality within a blink of an eye.

Images from your computer can be uploaded to Imgur to be shared on your favorite social network via a unique URL, or within the Imgur community itself. You'll want to use the official Imgur app to use it from a mobile device too.

Best for: Uploading photos (and animated GIFs) as quick and painlessly as possible without losing their quality, to be shared anywhere online–especially social networking sites.

Max image size/storage: 20 MB for all non-animated GIF images and 200 MB for animated GIF images.

2 Google Photos
Google Photos is probably one of the most useful photo resources you can use, mainly for its powerful automatic backup feature. Simply download one of the free Google Photos apps to automatically upload all photos you take with your devices to be synced up right across your account and accessible from anywhere.

You can also use Google Photos to edit your photos, organize them according to people/places/things and share your photos online even with non-Google Photos users. The more you use Google Photos, the more it learns about your photo habits so that it can take some of the manual work off your back by automatically organizing your photos for you.

Best for: Automatically backing up photos that you take, uploading large quantities, editing them and organizing them.

Max image size/storage: Unlimited free storage for photos taken by smartphones and point-and-shoot cameras (16 megapixels or less) plus the option to alternatively use your limited storage space from your Google account for photos taken by DSLR cameras.

3 Flickr
Flickr is one of the oldest and most widely known photo sharing social networks currently out there. Not only does it offer free image hosting but also has editing tools you can use to perfect your photos before organizing them into albums so you can shown them off to the rest of the Flickr community.

Recommended: How to Download Flickr Photos Individually or in Batches

You can configure your privacy options if you want to share your photos with a selected audience and you have opportunity to easily upload from a variety of platforms including via the web, your mobile device, email or other photo applications. The official Flickr mobile app is stunning and actually one of the best features of the platform.

Best for: Editing your photos to look their best, creating albums and social networking.

Max image size/storage: 1 TB (1,000 GB) of free storage space.

4 500px
Like Flickr, 500px is a popular social network for photographers looking to share their best photos. It doesn't exactly compare to some of the alternatives discussed above in that you can't directly link to photos, but it's a fantastic option for photographers looking to show off their work and maybe make a little money from it.

500px users can create a profile to share their photos and premium users get the option to create a completely separate portfolio for a place to display their best work without the ratings and comments from the community. If you want to display a photo on a website, you can do so by copying the embed code from the photo page.

Best for: Social networking with other photographers and licensing or selling your photos.

Max image size/storage: Since 500px is more of a social network and photography portfolio site than a simple image hosting platform, it doesn't specify any file size or storage restrictions.

5 Photobucket
Photobucket not only lets you store your photos but also allows you to create and buy prints from the photos that you upload. Turn your memories into canvas prints, canvas posters, metal prints, regular prints, framed prints, home decor items and personalized gifts directly through Photobucket.

If you're not interested in getting prints, you can simply use Photobucket to store, organize, curate, share and link to all your photos for free. Make sure to take advantage of their fabulous mobile app too.

Best for: Uploading and storing photos in their original sizes, editing them, organizing them, hosting animated GIFs and printing photos on products.

Max image size/storage: 2 GB of free storage space with an extra 8 GB that you can get just for downloading the free mobile app.

6 ImageShack
ImageShack is an image hosting alternative that has a great looking interface, somewhat similar to how Pinterest showcases its images in a pinboard-style layout. Use it to upload as many high-res photos as you want, create albums, organize everything with tags and discover featured photos from other users for inspiration.

Privacy options are available if you don't want your photos to be viewed publicly, and you can easily share a single photo or an entire album with anyone you like. ImageShack also hosts photos for businesses and has several applications (both for mobile and the web) that you can take advantage of to make managing and sharing your photos even easier.

Best for: Uploading large quantities of photos, organizing them and sharing single photos or entire albums.

Max image size/storage: Unlimited uploads and unlimited space as long as each individual photo file size is no larger than 25 MB.

7 Dropbox
Dropbox is a free cloud storage provider that you can use to store all sorts of different file formats, in addition to photos. You can get a shareable link to a single photo file or even an entire folder containing multiple photos to share with other people.

Dropbox also has a variety of extremely powerful mobile apps that you can use to upload, manage and share all of your photo files right from your device. You can even tap the arrow beside any file name to make it available for offline viewing when you don't have internet access.

Recommended: 10 Tips for Using Dropbox

Best for: Sending or sharing individual photos or folders of photos with others

Max image size/storage: 2 GB of free storage with the opportunity to earn as much as 16 GB in extra free storage by inviting other people to join Dropbox.

8 Free Image Hosting
Another top site for easily sharing photos, Free Image Hosting is similar to Imgur but without the trendy layout and or the convenient hyperlink shortener. You can upload images without needing to create a free account first and Free Image Hosting provides you with the HTML code to a direct link to your photo so you can share it easily.

Your images are stored on the site forever (even as an anonymous user without an account) as long as they adhere to the terms of service. You can also upload animated GIFs, although some may look distorted if they're too large in size.

Best for: Uploading individual photos fast and directly linking to them so they can be displayed elsewhere on the web (social networks, websites, forums, etc.)

Max image size/storage: 3,000 KB per photo file size.

9 Tinypic
Similar to Imgur and Free Image Hosting, Tinypic (a product of Photobucket) gives users a fast and simple way to upload and share photos without having to create or log into an account. Just choose the file you want to upload, add some optional tags, set the size you want and you're done.

Tinypic provides you with a simple link you can use to share your photo anywhere. Adding tags will help users who use Tinypic's search function to find relevant photos. Photos (and videos) that are not associated with a user account will remain on the site for at least 90 days, after which they may be removed if they haven't been viewed.

Best for: Uploading photos fast and sharing them anywhere online–especially forum message boards.

Max image size/storage: No larger than 1600px for both the width and height. Photos that are too large are resized to acceptable sizes.

10 PostImage
PostImage is a very simple site that gives you free image hosting for life and something that most other free image hosting sites don’t give their users: the opportunity to host adult content (as long as it also doesn't also fall under the category of being violent, racist or illegal). Most other sites strictly prohibit adult content from being shared and often state this in their terms of service.

This site is primarily used for hosting images for forums and comes with a simple image upload mod forum users can install and use. You can upload multiple images at a time and choose to resize them for avatar use, message boards, web, email or computer monitors.

Best for: Uploading individual photos to be shared on forum message boards.

Max image size/storage: No specified file size or storage restrictions.

The best forum of this kind that I use that allows to directly upload photos to message threads is free, but has a sort of "membership drive" every quarter. The site remains free and with no adds but for the most part everyone pitches in. I'd be good for $50 every 4 mo this.

I have also been having problems at photobucket for no apparent reason. If AR hosted images on their Web Site they would have to pay for more Bandwidth. The more images the Higher the monthly Cost on the AR website.

Hi Jerry

I post on a boating forum called www.riverdavesplace.com

and a bike riding forum called www.mtbr.com

and a bike packing forum called www.bikepacking.net

All of them host photo's

AR is the only forum I have ever used or even heard of that you need an outside photo hosting site.

They are all free. They also all have advertisers. I don't see the advertisers necessarily as a negative. They keep the site free and the speeds up, offering more posting tools.

I really don't even notice the advertising anymore.

Hasn't been any changes to my computer or firewall. One suggestion was a problem with Adobe Flash Player. I uninstalled it and had no improvement. Reading the comments on the Photobucket (non) help sections shows lots of folks with the upload problem.

Cheers

Sorry to hear that. From what I gather there isn't much hope of a fix. Pisses me off that I can't upload anything but every picture I ever put on here including some picture heavy hunt reports will go away if I bail on the account.

I guess I will switch to one of the other sites for future pics and hope the present photo bucket hosted ones stay alive.

Cheers
Jim

Had similar problems, got tired of it and dumped Photobucket.

No problem here, must be your new President Mr T starting to make changes, I heard he doesn't want free trade and wants some isolationism back in your country. Didn't he tell you that included sharing photos tu2

Get the PB app for your IPhone...it works great. On my PC...PB works the same for me as always.

I snapped that pic just now on my IPhone and uploaded it from my IPhone on to Photobucket through the PB app.

I used PB from my PC to put pics on another forum yesterday. For me...same as it always has been.
