I know this may be in the wrong place. I ask for indulgence on this matter.

As you all may recall, we raised about $85,000 (much here on AR) for the surviving family of Phillip Smythe. His widow was pregnant and had two small kids.

Everything went smoothly until the very end. Money was transferred to Leah periodically. Near the very end, Pay Pal shut down the account because tickets were sold for a gun raffle. The account had $2,745.95 in it. Pay Pal led us to believe that it would be returned to us in 6 months.

Well, 6 months has come and gone. No money from Pay Pal. We contacted Pay Pal today. Much to my surprise, Pay Pal has taken this money as damages. No notification. No explanation. No nothing. They just took the money.

I am pissed off beyond human comprehension. I am sending Leah the balance from my personal funds. I promised this guy form Pay Pal that this will cost Pay Pal a lot more than $2,700. His response was basically "so sue us."

Please keep this in mind when it come time to use Pay Pal. I will never use them again EVER!

Thank you for the up date Larry.

I am not sure what avenues you may have to reclaim the money from Pay Pal.

Disputes between you and PayPal regarding our Services may be reported to Customer Service online through the PayPal Help Center at any time, or by calling (402) 935-2050 from 6 AM to midnight Central Time.

Pay Pal appears to be used by scammers on Facebook.

You know you can trust us because we do to ask for your personal information, we use pay pal to protect you.

I do not use pay pal and hove no intentions of starting.

What would be more interesting is for Mrs. Smythe to sue them in Zimbabwe court…

Larry,

I'm thinking the fact PayPal has caused you great mental anguish and suffering over this (hopefully documented by a trip or two to your PCP for anti anxiety meds) then the lawsuit they welcome could cost them far more than they realize. Wink

That said, I'm not a lawyer.

If you want to die of boredom, read their terms and conditions.

PayPal are nothing but profiteering, self-righteous sons of bitches.

They ban payments in the course of legal commerce in firearms and related products. Even if charitable in purpose.

But the law is on their side.

Notwithstanding that their behavior is shameful.

In this case, it amounts to stealing money from a widow and orphans.

This should be publicized to the maximum extent possible.

I am going to cancel my account immediately, and I will let the bastards know why in clear and no uncertain terms.

I recommend that all of us do the same.

You are no doubt correct my friend . I have a hard thinking they can just take the money with no notice or explanation. Regardless, after I have another discussion with attorneys tomorrow,

Although it is nothing compared to this cluster, they held $800 from Argentina for six weeks without explanation. They were just getting the juice.

I am sorry this happened. Luckily, they no longer have a monopoly on money transfers.

I don’t use any electronic payments anymore.

I have used pay pal in the past. Not worth it and even PayPal I ran thru my credit card.

Before you guys send money electronically read the contract. It has few traditional protections that credit cards and banking system (checks/wire) have.

US Courts generally take a dim view of one party initiating "self help"; i.e., we think you did something wrong therefore your money is now our money.

That being said - the hardest thing in the commercial world is making somebody pay you.

I have never read paypal's terms and conditions but I would be very curious if their terms actually said "A violation of our terms results in your forfeiture of funds"

Mike

Legistine actu? Quid scripsi?

Never under estimate the internet community's ability to reply to your post with their personal rant about their tangentially related, single occurrence issue.

What I have learned on AR, since 2001:
1. The proper answer to: Where is the best place in town to get a steak dinner? is…You should go to Mel's Diner and get the fried chicken.
2. Big game animals can tell the difference between .015 of an inch in diameter, 15 grains of bullet weight, and 150 fps.
3. There is a difference in the performance of two identical projectiles launched at the same velocity if they came from different cartridges.
4. While a double rifle is the perfect DGR, every 375HH bolt gun needs to be modified to carry at least 5 down.
5. While a floor plate and detachable box magazine both use a mechanical latch, only the floor plate latch is reliable. Disregard the fact that every modern military rifle uses a detachable box magazine.
6. The Remington 700 is unreliable regardless of the fact it is the basis of the USMC M40 sniper rifle for 40+ years with no changes to the receiver or extractor and is the choice of more military and law enforcement sniper units than any other rifle.
7. PF actions are not suitable for a DGR and it is irrelevant that the M1, M14, M16, & AK47 which were designed for hunting men that can shoot back are all PF actions.
8. 95 deg F in Africa is different than 95 deg F in TX or CA and that is why you must worry about ammunition temperature in Africa (even though most safaris take place in winter) but not in TX or in CA.
9. The size of a ding in a gun's finish doesn't matter, what matters is whether it’s a safe ding or not.
10. 1 in a row is a trend, 2 in a row is statistically significant, and 3 in a row is an irrefutable fact.
11. Never buy a WSM or RCM cartridge for a safari rifle or your go to rifle in the USA because if they lose your ammo you can't find replacement ammo but don't worry 280 Rem, 338-06, 35 Whelen, and all Weatherby cartridges abound in Africa and back country stores.
12. A well hit animal can run 75 yds. in the open and suddenly drop with no initial blood trail, but the one I shot from 200 yds. away that ran 10 yds. and disappeared into a thicket and was not found was lost because the bullet penciled thru. I am 100% certain of this even though I have no physical evidence.
13. A 300 Win Mag is a 500 yard elk cartridge but a 308 Win is not a 300 yard elk cartridge even though the same bullet is travelling at the same velocity at those respective distances.

2) Purchase Chinese Communist products if there is a viable option
3) Participate in the liberal owned social media outlets

Have you guys tried PaySend ?

I have used PaySend to pay for different stuff in countries that we normally do not have banktransactions with. I was very sceptical in the beginning, but it worked like hell as long as the person in that particular country has a MasterCard or VISA. I do not know whether it is obtainable to get a MasterCard or a VISA card in ZIm, but if so this should work without any hassel.

Some of these things are quite interesting. Seems to be a pattern here. That might be a problem for Pay Pal.

I am speaking with certain class action law firms . Depending on what they say, I have a contact with a major news network. The storyline is not good for Pay Pal. Large company steals from widow .

In a nut shell, that is it. Liberals will not be sympathetic since the people involved are in an industry they abhor. Lawyers won't take the case unless there is a very high chance there will be a big payout.

If you run the name of that company through trustpilot.com you'll see they have a dreadful reputation for unethical behaviour & the con they played is not uncommon with them although this is the first time I've heard of them actually keeping funds for good....... their usual trick is to wait until a significant amount appears in an account & then they freeze it for 6 months on some BS accusation & that 6 months usually turns into 8 or 9 months & in that time they can of course do what they like with it & garner any interest they can & the busstards did that to me & many others.

However, if you run the name of Wise (formally Transferwise) through trustpilot.com you'll see they have glowing reports so those of you who have Paypal accounts might consider closing them & opening new accounts with Wise who (I'm glad to say) give tip top customer service.
