jrkrkT/C Encore 375ruger Barrel
Hey guys just a heads up the 375 ruger will be offered in the Encore pro hunter barrel for 2007.

GrumulkinI think it will be a real hot seller until everyone figures out it's really no better than a 375 H&H Mag.

Kyler HamannSeems like the perfect DG rifle. That will once and for all put an end to the CRF vs. PF, bolt vs. double, decocking safety, and extractor vs. ejector debates. Everyone can just switch to an Encore in .375 Ruger.

500grainsI would post my view but I fear retribution by the courtesy police.

prof242500grains,
Your reply was more eloquent and said more than any that would arouse the courtesy police... and humorous too!

eyedocI purchased a Thompson Pro Hunter in 300 Win Mag this year and found it to be tack driving accurate.Took five deer with it and all were DRT.
If the 375's are made of the same quality and accuracy I can see how they would make a fellow a fine choice of weapon.
Then again , I AM FIRST AND FOREMOST A BOWHUNTER , so I am used to killing with one good well placed shot and not needing a fusilade of bullets to get the job done.
We seldom get to choose
But I've seen them go both ways
And I would rather go out in a blaze of glory
Than to slowly rot away!

Devildawg66Nothing wrong with the Encore. They will shoot with the best of them. Here is a picture of mine and they will be going to Africa with me in May. The 300 Win Mag, .260 Remington are going, the Muzzle loader stays home.

boom stickit makes good business sense but the ruger # 1 and the 375 ruger is a better pedigree.

GrumulkinI agree, nothing wrong with the Encore and Contender. When I went to South Africa, it was an Encore in 375 H&H Magnum and a Contender pistol in 357 Herrett that went with me.
The thing with the 375 Ruger is that it probably won't live up to ballistic claims made of it. When this is discovered, I predict that there will be much less enthusiasm for its use. It's really a new cartridge without a need but I suppose variety is OK.

Russ GouldThe real niche for this ctg is in a standard length mauser action. There's no advantage to using it in a single shot. But this allows the average Joe to buy a DG rifle without spending big bucks for a special action...just convert a 30-06 or an 8mm $250 used sporter to a real DG rifle with claw extractor, accessorize with the widely available triggers, stocks, etc. and you are done.
