Call me biased, but I just cannot think of anyone his age who has done as much hunting...And call me biased again, but there is nobody I would rather hunt with. A true professional hunter, cheers Jonny! beer

At Devuli HQ (now Chishakwe) in 1972, with a calf killing leopard my dad shot.

Dande, 1980 something...

Best PH on the proficiency exam.

Your brother is an OUTSTANDING PH and one of the most fun people to be around. We consider ourselves very fortunate to have hunted with him and Amos.

Is the woman in the 1980 something photo
Phyllis Tucker?

Thanks folks, I simply felt the need to make this post...

You know, I don't think I have ever told my brother how much I respect his achievements, it must be a brother thing...I will tell him when I next see him, I am obviously ready to... Must be why I posted this on impulse late last night when I was thinking of the big picture, how short life truly is...It felt the right thing to do... May have something to do with turning 40...

Kathi, my brother has always spoken highly of you and Rick, I believe you enjoyed a great safari together.

Yes, that is the amazing Phyllis Tucker in the photo! Jonny was really impressed by her! He came home at the end of that season and said he had hunted with the most remarkable woman who was always immaculately turned out and yet a very determined hunter who would and did smoke a lion in an instant! She shot 2 lions on that hunt, I believe. On the other side of Phyllis is the legendary PH Dzingai Makoni (Ian Piercy's right hand man) whom Jonny did a lot of his training under.

I think Jonny has better hair than that lion.
Wonder hmm, shoulder mount or full body?
Either way, he'd need a beer in his hand.
Can't wait till Jan. to see him again.

Valley lion Smiler

You'd need to work out the space factor for a full body mount of Jon!

Biebs, I know Jon will be well pleased to be hunting with the good doctors again. Right now, Jonny and Collen are hunting out of Arda, one of them is doing a lion, I think..

nube, sure I will let you know, no problem. I spoke with my mother today and she said the hunt had just started, but I speak with her fairly often so will get an update soon. What will you be hunting and with who?

Anton, that is a great picture, thank you and I hope you are well my friend. I will certainly pass your greetings to Jonny.

Cheers everyone, David

David, I am hunting with Thierry on Arda and surrounding areas. I have one friend with me hunting leopard and buffalo along with plainsgame and I have another friend hunting buffalo, Crocodile and plainsgame. Thanks for passing along the info if you find out.
Were there any other hunt on there recently this year you could share a few pictures of?

Thanks again for the thoughtful remarks folks.

nube, you know right now I have nothing at all recent on my computer. I have been out of it for years, to tell truth. Missing it, really... I will chase up Alistair, Collen and Thierry - they are the only ones I have a chance of getting photos from. I need to make the acquaintance of the Appy, they are always good for photos... I will do what I can as soon as possible.

Thanks for the interest in Jonny's hairstyle folks, I'm sure he'll be pleased to know it generated more discussion than 27 years of big game hunting Smiler

Seriously, thanks very much, I'm glad I did this.

Cheers, David

You should have seen him "ivory to ivory" with a charging, man-eating coyote one Jan. night in South Texas. I thought I'd lose him to hyperventilation!

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."
