Been awhile since there was any commentary about the situation in Zim on this Forum. Sometimes it seems to me like folks feel that the only good news is bad news. As best as I have been able to determine, sounds like the season in Zim is going fine, hunters are having uneventful and enjoyable safaris, safety and security have not been an issue, the ever-resourceful Zimbos are "making a plan" on supplies and getting the job done, fingers are crossed that progess is being made on the political situation, etc. Maybe I am just a glass is half full sort of fellow though. Mike, I was there a month ago and we had absolutely no problems anywhere or with anything. Hunting remains excellent from all contacts. Wish I were still there. That seems to be the near universal experience. I talked to someone who returned today and they had a marvelous time with zero problems. Like I said, I am afraid that many folks believe that bad news is all that is worth talking about. Mike | |||

I just got back a couple of weeks ago as well. No problems at all. The Zim people are a great bunch and make the best out of a terrible situation. I never posted a report because there are a handfull of guys on this site that badmouth anyone for hunting there and I didn't want to get in a pissing match over the issue. That said, I think it best if all you negative folks out there just stay at home and worry about tomorrow while Keith and I keep hunting Zim and having the time of our lives. | |||

I suspect there are more hunters on this site that would agree that the Zim situation is not great but tolerable... and the hunting is excellent than vice versa! There are a few who object on moral grounds and the rest have never been there and just want to add to their post count. I've been back just a little over 2 weeks, and I never felt in real danger, just a little uneasy at some of the roadblocks, and that was mainly because it was something new to me. After a while it became more of a nuisance than anything else. No feelings like I was about to get caught in the middle of a riot, revolution, or civil war. I'd also hazard a guess that I put in more road miles in Zim than most other hunters on this board. We DROVE from Beit Bridge to the Zambezi Valley and back. Caleb | |||

We have just had a long holiday weekend here to celebrate "heroes day", and if there was going to be a time to expect trouble, it was then. Most of us from the office here were out of town, and travelling quite extensively, with no sign of trouble anywhere. The road blocks are now common place and seldom are a problem. Of course, as we often advise, visiting hunters will seldom be in any danger, or even near possible hotspots. And as you all rightly say, the hunting is still very good and well supported with a working infrastructure... albeit often made possible by the operators themselves. Thanks to the hunters who support the hunting here, as it is that kind of revenue and presence on the ground which is maintaining our wildlife. Ant.

I have family in Zim at the moment, on holiday in Mana Pools and everything seems fine, they drove in and have not experienced anything untoward. | |||

Counting down the days 48 till lift off. Five days in RSA after the little guys and then onto the Zambezi Valley for elephant, etc.  | |||
