Hi Folks, Since my wife and I are finally going to be heading to RSA in Oct. Thought it would be fun to learn a few Zulu phrases in the interim. Finding cd's or cassets on learning Zulu is proving harder than I anticipated. Does anyone know of any good intro-to-Zulu audio courses? Thanks

Actually most people in RSA speak Africanse (or something spelled like that) I didn't talk to anyone who spoke Zulu. I picked up some phrases while I was there, and it helped out a bit. Mink and Wall Tents don't go together. Especially when you are sleeping in the Wall Tent. DRSS .470 & .500

Afrikaans. Do a search for it on Amazon.com and you will find lots of info, books, dictionaries, and cassette tapes to learn it.

If you want audio/visual learning aides for language try www.kalahari.net or www.oneworld.co.za Not that you need to know anything but english as a safari client, its always enriching to learn a new language. Zulu is widely spoken and traditionally comes from the east coast / kwazulu natal province and whats now southern Mpumalanga with some geographic exceptions. If you are hunting else where, it may be better to learn Sotho, Tswana(OFS, NW or parts of limpopo provinces), Xhosa (E and other parts of the cape) or Shangaan or Venda (parts of limpopo). But, as I said, in no way will you need it, englishis the 'practical' official language of our 11. This does vary gepgrahically howvere with Afikaans and the typical indigenous language of that area. Have fun with it!

Afrikaans is probably a better choice. Check out Amazon and possibly eBay. Also, www.multilingualbooks.com seems to have a good selection as well. RCG

This reminds me of a story... I was at a client site and met this other vendor. We decided to all go to lunch and hopped in the other vendor's car. I saw a book on Swahili in the back and asked why he had it. The groans came out from the clients. "I hunt a lot," he said, "and I like to go to Africa." "Me too," I replied. He asked, "Have you ever been to this website called Accurate Reloading?" I said, "I have." He said, "I am Big Bullet." Small world.
