A tragedy as all plane crashes are. I used to defend manufacturers in aviation cases. The 182 is a great plane. Wonder, as others have, about four passengers in addition to the pilot. While we don't want to believe it, in my experience, the vast majority of crashes are due to pilot error.

Lavaca- for the record again it was not a Cessna 182 but the Styles c 206. Barry was a very experienced pilot but what I can tell you having chatted to my stepdad Dad who during our war often flew the same area where the accident was is that it is a very hilly section prone to bad weather coming in very fast.

Now that is disgusting

Light planes flying VFR into instrument conditions in mountainous terrain I’ve seen this movie many times. In modern airliners on instrument Flight plans with all bells and whistles much less a pilot error issue. Scud running or getting trapped in imc in mountainous terrain recipe for disaster. In fact VFR into IMC bylow time or inexperienced instrument flyers can lead to spatial disorientation and the “death spiral” which leads to structural failure or impact with terrain. The most common of the light plane accidents I believe. Not sure what’s his flying background is but it’s one of the two scenarios more than likely it sounds like. Very common. Hope there is enough left and some good inspectors to piece it together. Even experienced jet pilots screw up in light planes I know a few. Sounds like a good guy and sorry for his family and the clients that were his passengers. A shame

Mates of Barry from School set up this GO FUND ME- for Barry as the Kims greatest concern was the education of their four little kids. These funds will be channelled towards this.

I know some of you knew and hunted with Barry so I thought that I would share this with you all as with out doubt a very worthwhile cause for an amazing man and wonderful family.

Here is more news from Zim's Monday newspaper. If true, it indicates plane might have had a carrying capacity issue.

Very sad. Barry was a great guy. Hunted with him in 1999. RIP brother
