Ladies and Gents,

The topic has always fascinated me so I decided to go for it(!)... and create The Africa Collection : Dug-Out Canoes and Donkey Wagons

I'd like to gather photos from our members here and create a page on my website featuring your photo(s) along with a Photo Credit beside your image.

For those who are happy to share just include your photo(s) here so that everyone can enjoy too...or you can easily UPLOAD via my website. tu2

These will not be printed for my use but I will be digitally-enhancing them for the Collection for visitors to my website.

Hope you can help me and I would be very grateful for your participation tu2

EDIT: I will email ALL participants a Custom Enhanced DIGITAL Photo Book PDF copy of The Africa Collection : Dug-Out Canoes and Donkey Wagons as prepared for my website upon completion of this project. beer

Here's a fisherman in the Bangweulu Swamp, Zambia. I took this photo with Andrew (Fairgame) in 2004 hunting for Sitatunga. If you look carefully in the trees in the background, you can see Shoebill camp. Shoebill is one of the finest, best run camps in all of Africa.

Taken in northern Zimbabwe between Dande East and Dande Safari area.

Roland, your camera was delivered to Thierry.

It takes nice pictures! Big Grin

I should add, it didn't take this one, it was from the June 2013 hunt.

Appreciate you posting that FIRST SHOT shot Jerry...quite a story to go along with it as well...very sorry to hear of the boatman's tragedy...RIP

I will handle this image with much care and reverence in my processing of it considering his fate.

Jerry what year was this tragedy do you recall?

Not a dugout but maybe an Honorable Mention for a fishing boat made of Corrugated sheet metal near Martin Pieters, Omay Camp.

Also another picture of Karl in the more civilized environment of the Jo'burg airport.

WOW!
Amazing what some peoples make do with, isn't it?
Kinda reminds me of some Asian pics I've seen with their motor scooters and the loads they haul on 'em.

More proof how American's have advanced over some lesser areas of the world.

Great thread, impressive pictures guys. Enjoyed it much, looking forward to more.

The sad truth is that 98% of the population in the "advanced world" is only getting by due to the expertise of others.

Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt.

Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.

Some pictures from Mozambique, some taken by Luc days after his 10 dayss sojourn in intensive care unit in Harare, because an elephant cow didn't like frenchmen.

I can refrain to think to a poor SOB. Hunting the Cabora bassa, we hopped from chanel to chanel with different fishermen and their dugouts. The last fisherman was very loud and wanting to tag with us for the ultimate approach to hippos. Buzz dismissed him first politely and then firmly. It happened that he never made home. Drunk he fell in the lake and the crocs had him. We learned it the morrow when back we saw the whole village roaring and slashing the lake in an attempt to retrieve the corpse, in vain.

A pity that I only have a video of a pissed Buzz Charlton ensconsed in a dugout. God he hates dugouts. Maybe I can extract a pic, it's priceless
