I just received and "read" the May/June 2013 issue of Safari magazine. I'd just like to say that's the worst issue I've EVER seen. What a POS! And I thought it got bad 3 or 4 years ago. This is a new low for sure. 112 pages.....yes you read that right. 3.....I'm going to repeat that 3 big game hunting articles, 2 bird hunting articles, 1 fishing article, 2 informative articles, 3 "lifestyle" articles (art, jewelry, alcohol glasses???WTF???), 3 gear articles, 9 pages SCI misc, and 60 pages (full or 2 halves added to 1) advertising!!! I remember reading my Uncle's Safari magazines as a kid and reading through each article. This magazine I read exactly 1 article. It was Boddington's Right Lion article. That's disappointing beyond words! thumbdown

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

Hell I even commented on the other thread! Somehow I missed that it was in regard to the newest Safari mag, which I just finally received today. Still abysmal!

Brett, for a critic, your reading comprehension skills seem a bit questionable.

Just kidding. I enjoyed an ice cold Pegu Club this very evening thanks to this latest issue. Big Grin

I find it poorly done. The DSC magazine is a little better. The best of all of them is Sports Afield. African Hunting Gazette is not bad. RMEF magazine "Bugle" is weak and repetitive. The second best out there is "Gray's Sporting Journal". It has excellent pics and stories. Very well done.

Actually, I really enjoyed the article on the "Colonial Cocktails". Can't wait to try a Pegu Club!
